Have No Fear... "Georgie" Is Still Here...

As we approach the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's devistating brush with the city of New Orleans, we can take solace in the fact that the Bush administration is "prepared" for another emergency.

Hurricane Ernesto will probably hit New Orleans next Thursday or Friday with powerful storm surges and winds which will probably again breach the unprepared levees which have been neglected by the Bush Administration and FEMA for the past year.

"Georgie" and his crew will have another chance to demonstrate their incompetence during a crisis.

The good news is: Most of the poor, black residents of the formerly "great" city haven't been able to afford to return so this time Bush's incompetence won't kill more of them.

And since the administration hasn't begun to clean up the mess caused by Katrina, the new "mess" will just be piled on the old. Making it less expensive in the long run. So I guess Bush's incompetence and lack of compassion has finally led to a positive result. If the administration had spent millions cleaning up Katrina's damage to the poor, black communities they'd just have to do it again. They saved us money! Finally! Even though it was unintentional, this administration has done something which saved the taxpayers money!

All kidding aside, it is a sin that the conditions in New Orleans' 9th district is still in a shambles. It speaks louder than all the empty rhetoric of the right wing talking heads who pretend to have compassion for those who are suffering in cities all over this country because their homes in New Orleans are still covered with mud and debris.

Re-Elect McCain/Lieberman In '08

Re-elect? Well, here's the 7 part scenario that makes that happen:

1. The Democrats take the House and Senate in November.

2. Impeachment is imminent.

3. Cheney either "takes one" for the team and resigns (for health reasons: they can pretend he has a heart again) or "Georgie" runs him off with a Quail gun or his heart really gives out and he needs to be replaced (Remember Nixon/Agnew)/ (Nixon/Ford)

4. "Georgie" 'APPOINTS' John McCain Vice President.

5. "Georgie" resigns (Nixon style to preserve his pension and Secret Service protection)

6. Hail to the "Chief!" McCain grants a "full pardon" for war crimes and all other crimes against humanity committed by "Georgie."

7. President McCain convinces the strong "Republican" Senator from Connecticut to assume the now vacant Vice Presidency.

And there you have it... No President "Pelosi."

Remember you heard it here first.

To Protect And To Serve

I was trying to decide what to blog about today. After almost deciding to follow up yesterday's with a response to the one negative comment I received on my "Grapes Of Wrath" entry, I took my daughter to see the new Oliver Stone movie: "World Trade Center."

I thought quite a bit during the movie about the amount of time I've spent on my assorted blogs talking about the horror in Haditha and other atrocities that have happened in Iraq. As much as I despise the animals who murder innocent people while wearing the uniform of our military machine, sometimes I don't give enough credit to those who serve honorably.

Like the Lt. who comments regularly on my TPM Cafe blog, the vast majority of our military people are honorable and patriotic Americans like I was when I served and I still am today.

For every monster who has murdered an innocent civilian or terrofied an Iraqi with a violent dog or photographed prisoners of war in inappropriate ways, there are 10,000 who are decent and heroic people.

For every cop who has been caught on video beating a helpless person or overstepping the bounds of decency, there are 1,000 who are there to serve and protect the people in their community.

Many heroes died on 9/11. Many risked their lives to save other people. Many of our military men and women risk their lives every day for honorable and patriotic reasons. I salute all of them.

To all who read this, I want to be clear on my opinion of the evil of this administration and all they have done... But I also want it to be known that I support and respect ALL the honorable veterans and military active duty personnel who serve and have served this country.

I know none of the supporters of my blog judge our young soldiers and Marines harshly or inappropriately because their Commander in Chief and his corrupt and incompetent administration are a bunch of cowards and liars.
