OH, SNAP! John McCain is actively trying to raise money here at TPM, RIGHT NOW
Has anybody noticed the ads that appear between the end of a blog and the comments section that feature Akmadinij...(Iranian figurehead, I can't spell it) and Obama in a split panel picture? I largely ignored it, but I happened to notice that it says at the bottom "Paid For by John McCain, 2008". THAT, piqued my interest.
So I read the ad. It says 'Is it OK to met unconditionally with anti-american forgien leaders?' So I figured it might be some poll, but it doesn't matter whether you click 'Yes' or 'No', it opens a page for you to donate to McCain's campaign. Try it, you'll like it.
Now, I'm all for the open market, and I'm more than willing to discuss politics with people who don't share my views. But this is just a waste of money for McCain (a good thing). How many people here would give money to the McCain campaign? Five? Ten? It's obvious that he's trying to court the women who would vote McCain over Obama. This is offensive.
The mere tactic is misleading because it's not a poll, it's McCain trying to split the D-Party. It's particularly offensive after some of the recent posts (particularly LisB's wonderful insight into the complex issue of women's rights) given here.
I won't stand for it. It time to hit back. We need to show this mysoginist what the internet can do. Here's where I'm at a loss.
We need to show McCain's people that we are united against him. Democrats, Independs, and Republicans. I would love to hear from you how we can hit him and hit him hard. This is not philosophy any longer. I'm talking about action. If you are not willing to act on your suggestion you need not respond. The enemy thought he could infiltrate our camp using typical, misleading Bush strategies. I, for one, won't stand for it.
I want us to discuss options that we can use, as a whole, over the internet. Then I want us to take action, and if have to attach my real name to it I will, enthusiastically.
I'm serious. I watched Obama's speech to his campaign staff, and he's right, "If we screw this up, noone will get help for the next four years" (paraphrased, but not the if we screw this up part).
McCain is officially a corporate troll, but this time we know excatly who to hit. Let's do something. Let's unite. Let's not screw this one up this time. Let's discuss, and then act. We need to send a message: Don't come to our home turf and expect us to capitulate. (I'm going to try to cross post this at DKos and MyDD, I've never done it before so if I'm not successful, I hope someone here will. Also, I give anyone permission to post this somewhere else. Even at little green footballs or whereever. I'm not afraid of who I am, and I'm not afraid to stand up for Americans needing help. The only caveat is that you MUST post the entire blog.)
