Last night, the Hope For Haiti Now telethon brought excellent musical performances and a host of celebrities to the small screen to raise millions of dollars for a worthy cause, providing relief to the devastating tragedy in Haiti.

But last night also brought to light another tragedy, one hidden until now. Something so awful, so unpleasant, something that strikes deep into the heart of our collective humanity.

And it is clear from what we saw last night, that another telethon, another effort in humanitarian relief is called for, because we as a people should not have to exist another day with what is facing us.

This tragedy of which I speak is, of course, Brad Pitt's beard.

Seriously! Did you see that thing?

Hey Brad: 1893 called, it wants its beard back.

Hey Brad: Your face looks like Robin Williams' knuckles.

Hey Brad: ZZ Top called - they said you're in!

So please, my friends, won't you join with me on this effort? I believe this is something that cuts across political lines, something that liberals, conservatives, and independents can get behind.
