Handwritten letters to Senators
I just wrote 20 handwritten letters to 10 Senators asking them to support the public option, with one letter going to their district office and one to their DC office. For each one I made up return addresses in wealthy areas of their respective states. I used the same formula for each one, saying that I and "my businesses" have long supported them, but I can't support them with my vote, my money, or my influence if they do not support the most important legislation of our generation.
Is there any chance this could make the smallest bit of difference, or did I just waste two hours and 10 bucks on postage?

Can't say if its a waste or not. I've written letters for years and don't really know if it does any good.
I do know though that if citizens don't make their views known it'll likely be worse that it already is. I'm not about to take that chance.

Kudos to you for all your efforts. I appreciate it.
The only thing that may be problematic is the postmark which would show the mailing post office zone. (I've been told they do note the postmark.)

You didn't, and you are a hero - truly. I would do this, but my handwriting approaches legibility of a 2-year-old's finger-painting. I always include my address to my Congressional delegation, to let them know I'm not a cipher. I always compose my own letters - and, I keep it short. I do everything I can to get it read, and separate it from the "bucket mail" that drowns them.

I am in the process of asking tourists in New York city to write letters or post cards to their senators. Does anyone know where there is a list of Senators with addresses of their district offices?
