Thank you so much for this thoughtful post. My significant other volunteered for two tours of Vietnam as a Marine. He only answered my questions once, and I would never ask again. Every year I thank him for being my veteran, and treat Nov. 11th like the honoring holiday that it is, and every year he is surprised that I think of it, and smiles. We are best to leave it there. I have never seen pictures of him in uniform, but I imagine this picture would be close to the baby face he was at 17 (lied about his age to go). We mostly talk about Jazz...and politics, of course.
