Senate Democrats expect to seat Burris
WASHINGTON - Reversing course, Senate Democrats grudgingly accepted embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's hand-selected Senate appointee, Roland Burris, as they sought to break an impasse over President-elect Barack Obama's former seat.
The new Illinois senator is expected to be sworn into office later this week.
Senate Democrats just spent the last two weeks performing self-flagellation over an issue THEY created ("since Blago made the appointment we must show America we detest all corruption or those meanie Republicans will criticize us") when they knew all along they would have to accept the appointment. What a bunch of clowns!

Just proves that as a group, Democrats are every bit as corrupt as the Republicans they are replacing. It will just take them a bit to get their infrastructure back up to speed. Burris is a good step in that direction.
At least we know the ONE democrat who'll stand against corruption, and it ain't Obama.
BTW: if Jade reads this, I was dead wrong and you were right (about the outcome, not the points of law). I gave your party waaaaay too much credit. Won't happen again.

I'm confused. The Dems said, "wait a minute" and they are corrupt? That seems a stretch. I think they were less then wise in their decision and clearly not as organized as the goose stepping Republicans, but I will concede, we will see how that infrastructure develops over time.

NO IT DOES NOT. It proves that when the Dems saw the law was on Burris' side, thye gave in to the law, instead of breaking it.

As per Nate Silver, Reid is far from a lock to be reelected. It would almost be worth losing a democratic senate seat to get rid of Harry.
How is senate leadership determined? If Reid were expelled from the senate for being a spineless amphibian instead of a human, who would be likely to be the new Majority Leader?

What it proves is that Reid and the Congressional Democrats are a bunch of cowardly, calculating, scheming, connivers who are stupid enough to think people don't see them for what they are.
You didn't need to be a constitutional scholar to understand that the Senate was obligated to recognize Burris' appointment as completely lawful and that they had no legal right to block, delay or otherwise deny the people of Illinois or the Goveror's selection that seat in the Senate. They look just like the cowardly clowns they are.
