Latest Obama Endorsement Catches McCain Camp Off Guard

In a move that's sure to send shockwaves through the Republican Party, Swazi, the leader of the seven-member African Elephant herd at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, has thrown her considerable weight behind the campaign of Senator Obama.
"I'm tired of being taken for granted by the Republican Party," Swazi announced through translator and elephant specialist Marcus Roedenburger. "I still believe in the fundamental principles of the Republican Party -- fiscal responsibility, individual rights -- but as I've watched this campaign play out, I've come to the realization that John McCain simply has not demonstrated the leadership and judgment necesssary to see us through this time of national crisis." She then patted herself on the head with dirt.
"I first started questioning Senator McCain's suitability when the full extent of Governer Palin's wanton disregard for large, four-legged mammals became apparent," Swazi added. She then trumpeted to signal the conclusion of her appearance and stepped aside to wait for her handlers to lead her back into the elephant enclosure.
"It's, well, you know, surprising," said zookeeper Frank Varton. "But Swazi is definitely in charge of the herd, so I'd expect the other elephants to follow her lead."
In response to this announcement, the Obama campaign issued a brief statement indicating that they are "delighted to accept the support of all creatures, great and small" and that Swazi's endorsement underscores Barack Obama's "cross-species and cross-partisan appeal." The McCain campaign was not available for comment.

It's a stampede!

Paige, maybe you could go put some effort in animals in swing states? North Carolina's got 17 million pigs.... Indiana's got... well, I donno if we can bring the corn vote around in such a short period... Texas has got.... Texans.
Really, I think it all comes down to who can best talk to a particular animal.">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEzJQ97Vxrc">animal.

The more you learn about elephants, the more this makes sense. I bet this is going to spread to other zoos. Probably related to the outbreak of sanity the CDC reported on yesterday. (if you missed it, you can click my name)

My goodness, TheraP, I think you may be right. This could be evidence that the Sanity epidemic has jumped to the animal population!

I nominate the tapeworm... unless of course there is a more appropriate parasite.

I heard they were also auditioning the Damson Worm, which I think is loose again. In fact, I think I've seen it's lair. The GOP did not get any permission from Bram Stoker either. Bram's really pissed.

I think the earthworm will do just fine. Lives in the dirt. Eats dirt. Spews dirt.

But earthworms also aerate the soil, making it easier for plants to flourish....

I hear the horses' asses are all voting Republican this year; while their heads, where the brains are, are going for Obama, the true Independent. The Democrats are coming along but confused as usual over all the hoof-prints.
