I was surprised and amused today as I received a 2010 Repub party precinct survey. I have been a Southern California Democrat my whole life, so this is a mistake, or maybe fishing for Dems, or more likely just stupid. It's an official "2010 republican Party precinct survey". Which I am asked to complete and return no later than May 28, 2010. My survey was assigned and prepared especially for me!
Because the NRCC could not afford to print and mail a 2010 survey to each household in my area my answers will represent the views and opinions of many other taxpayers living in my precinct. This has got to be a joke, right? Anyone else get this "Survey"?

Today April 25,2010, in my local newspaper San Diego Union, there were letters from tea party people. " I never dreamed that in my lifetime I would have to fear that my classic freedoms such as freedom of speech and religion would be taken away....." These letters made me stop and think. If basic  freedoms are so important to them, do they allow the same basic freedoms for the rest of us? Or are they the only "real" Americans, and basic  freedoms are only applied to them and the "real" America. Isn't it freedom of speech when an American of Middle  Eastern decent wears robes or the woman's traditional scarf that covers her hair or face? Or what about the Americans of Indian decent that practice their religious freedom by caring for their hair by covering it with cloth and winding it on the top of their head. Or just every day Americans of black, brown, yellow, dressing in a fashion that makes a statement of who they are. Gay men and women expressing their freedom of speech by dressing any way they want to. And last the real "real" Americans, Native Americans. Now picture all these people showing up at one of the gun rallies, packing weapons. I want to see the woman in the berka with her shoulder arm strapped to her, with only her beautifully made-up eyes showing. Or how about a bunch of Black or Brown men and women with their guns showing up at that rally across from Washington. Would they have been welcomed as fellow gun toting citizen? Maybe the next time there is an open gun carry rally a cross section of America will show up. Won't they be surprised!
