Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) Calls the U.S. President a Liar...Are You Kidding Me?
There is no hiding place for Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) who called the President of the United States a liar during President Obama's speech to millions of Americans. Are you kidding me? This lame-brain from my neighboring state of South Carolina went mad-mob town hall style crazy and made a complete fool of himself. The people who sent this idiot to Congress must be feeling really proud. Surely there was someone else available. Anybody.
As much as anyone, I was surprised when Joe Wilson made his stupid and childish outburst. Then I became angry. This guy is a United States Congressman. I initially had harsh thoughts about the State of South Carolina. But there are good people in South Carolina. Joe Wilson stands alone on his own island and rightfully so. Does anyone expect Wilson to contribute anything of value to a grownup discussion about health care reform?
Joe Wilson and a lot of his Republican colleagues definitely do not have the best interests of everyday Americans without adequate health care at heart. They apparently still harbor too much anger about losing a national election to effectively do their jobs. This is the mentality that President Obama must defeat in order to bring about health care reform. Although I know it was not his intention, I think that Joe Wilson with his silliness actually helped the President's cause. And President Obama impressed me that he is ready to rumble.

Ah Hah . . .
Yes... Yes... Yes... Yes...
And I was just one minute behind you . . .
See: Hi... I'm Stoopid... and I'm on the Right . . .
Good job!

Thanks OGD. I have never seen this type of behavior from the halls of Congress during a presidential address. And this guy has a law degree. Shocking!

He has a law degree? If o, then he skipped the class on ethics, and ethical reasoning.

Wilson was referencing the fact that while the current proposals being put before congress all state that health care in this country is reserved for citizens and legal residents, there exists no mechanism in the legislation which actually enforces it.
Case and point: when applying for health insurance, applicants are no longer required to list their race or any other information pertaining to their ethnic background. As a consequence, an illegal immigrant only has to lie on one question to be eligible for participation.
The bottom line is that there will be hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants (who don't pay taxes) who will benefit from this system. If that's ok with you, then you should send Mr. Wilson a letter stating your convictions.

So the outburst was OK with you?

No one is saying that Joe Wilson can't disagree with the President. But you don't lose your cool and call the President of the United States a liar in the halls of Congress. Wilson was totally disrespectful and unbecoming of a US Congressman. He must have lost his bearings and thought he was at a contrived town hall meeting. There were young children watching and listening and Wilson's behavior is not a lesson for young children or anyone interested in civility in government to receive. Wilson should resign or be censored by his colleagues.

"what are you an 'f'ing idiot!!!"
Probably. But that's beside the point. Except, fearing a shortage as result of others' careless largesse, that I know better than overuse the exclamation point.
All in all, my final punctuation ws this:
;)
"facism is what the republicans are trying to accomplish."
Yes. I know.
"but obviously you never read..."
But -- but -- but! -- I'm reading your psot! (You FOCED me to increase the shortage.)
"and only listen to fox noise/fixed news, and a multitude of idiots... glen beck, strung-out rush lookin' for oxy, and the general customary liars like hannity and all the others that wouldnt know the truth if it hit them upside the head."
'Fraid (not actually) not: I don't have cable TV. And I next-to-never listen even to FM radio.

"The bottom line is that there will be hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants (who don't pay taxes) who will benefit from this system."
Either you're ignorant of the contents of the "bill," or you're a racist liar.
The fact is that at least tens of thousands of "illegal" immigrants -- how can you tell? they aren't sufficiently white? -- hired by CORPORATIONS, for LESS than the minimum wage, and those CORPORATIONS don't pay the several forms of taxes that are due.
Are you suggesting that's acceptable? Or are you pissed because you're alright with illegal immigrants so long as they aren't paid at all, and don't get anything for their labor except indentured servitude?
Clue: the Republicans are pro-Corporation. The corporations WANT illegal immigrants so they needn't pay minimum wage, and needn't pay taxes. Thus the Republican constant harping on "illetgal immigrants" is about RACISM, it is NOT about reform on the issue because the COPORATIONS don't want reform.
Do us a favor: take your racism to Joe Wilson's website: I'm certain he'll appreciate the support from a person sympathetic to his racist rant.

Whoa, so only brown people are illegal immigrants? What a stereotypical deduction. My Canadian colleague who is squatting in this country on a visa that expired 5 years ago would be surprised to hear that despite all appearances he's really brown...

Joe Wilson lied.
Section 246 of HB 3200 says that no illegal aliens will be eligible for benefits.
The lack of enforcement mechanism argument holds no water. The federal False Claims Act applies to the application for any federal monetary benefit, imposing civil penalties as well. The wealth of U.S. criminal statutes for Fraud would also apply. Not to mention, the rules of the INS and state law.
Bottom line is that Republicans want to beat Obama on this bill and are heaping upon it a pile of all of their fears: brown people, Reds, Euthanizers, Abortionists, welfare queens and all the rest.
It has become like a montage of Republican scary campaign commercials of the past 30 years!
All that has not made it yet is that Al Queda will be aided by health care reform.

We're already paying for healthcare for illegal immigrants in that emergency rooms can't turn them away. Republicans seem to think this setup is a better deal for us than allowing illegals to take a kid with a fever for a doctor visit, where, in the world of subsidized care, we'd be on the hook for maybe twenty-five bucks -- as opposed to the hundreds that it takes to pay a hospital for emergency room treatment.
Then add to this the fact that the 250 million the government subsidizes hospitals for their care of the uninsured doesn't cover what that care actually costs, so that burden gets passed on by the hospital to the paying customers, and, well, you have the ass-backward stupidity of healthcare in America in a nutshell.
Hey but at least that's better than putting some people who aren't white on the government books for doctor visits, right? Can't have that. And it would be un-American to be smart about what things really cost. It's un-American to be smart.

A free America... means just this: individual freedom for all, rich or poor, or else this system of government we call democracy is only an expedient to enslave man to the machine and make him like it.

Wow!! Rep. Joe Wilson, finally someone that will stand up for the American people. What's all this wasted talk of what you view as "etiquette", moral, professional, etc.?? Were you so smitten by his "silver toungue" that you didn't catch how this man addressed the people, you!! Wake-up America before it's too late!! Lies, only cast by fools, your grandchildren will be paying the price!!

Mr. Joe Wilson:
As an independent who can swing either way, let me give you and your party a realty check today.....you guys are going the wrong path to bring in more voters on your side!!
Your comments, Rush Limmbbbbooo, and all others like you are really a disgrace to ANY political party including all those senators holding a sign on their laps. What are you people, a six year old children??? Didn't your mom teach you any manners and respect? Why is it that your website is out of service today? I bet it was not because public wanted to leave you positive comments. Your district in SC needs free or restructured insurance coverage. Have you really talked to your district and REAL People in need of health care? President's plan may not be a perfect plan and probably needs twigging for several years coming but we got to start from somewhere. I have insurance and I pay for many other people's health care out of my tax's when they visit emergency rooms, hold medicare and medicare, or other social free clinics. Let's say this, Rep. brought us Trillions of dollars in debt and created a worldwide hate for Americans citizens. In all fairness, I would like to allow the gove. for once to spent my taxes the way I would like to. Bottom line, the behavior of the Rep. is costing you all votes. My son who is now 18th, thanks to you guys have made a decision to become a democrat now. Thank you!!!!

Yes, indeed, and some scary sounding ones too! On the other hand, they do tell us more than they probably intend when we scrutinize spelling, grammar, sentence structure, etc. Add those deficiencies to a lack of good manners and civility, and the danger seems less imposing. One reason why progressives had great respect for conservative columnist William F. Buckley was because that man had a steel trap for a brain, and he could write and orate circles around most of the rest of us. We disagreed with him, but we respected the hell out of him. We shall probably never see his like again, and that is a shame.

So you guys have forgotten the booing by a number of Democratic Congresspeople that went on During Bush's State of the Union in 2006? Already? All this "This has never happened before" is nonsense.
September 10, 2009 4:25 PM | Reply | Permalink
Booing, making faces, thats' different than shouting out "You Lie."
I've never seen such behavior in 30 years of voting; clearly the man Wilson is a racist who can't stomach the fact that a mixed race man is the President of the United States. To him, that's un-American. He went ballistic on the illegitimate daughter of the woman that Strom Thurmond raped, suggesting that the illegitimate daughter should have kept her mouth shut rather than sully the reputation of such a "great American."
Clearly Wilson lives in a fantasy world of white supremacy and, well, that world is no longer. He's lucky Obama had the dignity and fairmindedness to brush it off.
Hopefully, somebody will shave Wilsons balls with a swift stiletto in the next election.
America doesn't need the likes of him. He embarrasses our nation.
