And by the way, Lalo does not understand that 'truth' is subjective. Two people have an auto accident, both tell the 'truth' but both stories are different. Facts are much more reliable. Car A hit car B. That is the 'truth'.

I won't allow a George Bush takeover of my country without a fight. You can't let other people do your fighting. It does not have to be a gun. Use the system, like MLK. Stand your ground like Gandhi. Never stop fighting no matter where the battlefield, just like Tutu. A lot of folks are needlessly getting hung up on the image of a gun. It's not the gun, but the fight. And yes, hippies can and do defend themselves.

Thanks for your response, Rip. Actually, I have thought it through. I stated specifically that I was NOT going to events to 'brandish' my gun. And I won't stand in front of the podium posing like the Black Panthers did. My post is about taking steps to insure that anyone wanting to drag us out of our beds in the night will find resistance. Bullies lie and bluster to get their way, but when they use weapons to terrorize, I will fight fire with fire. I am an aging flower child that has given up the patched jeans and the leather headband, but not the principles. I will not seek out conflict, but will defend my principles to the bitter end. While I respect MLK, Gandhi, and Tutu, I cannot emulate them.

Sadly, it will come one day. The ethnic or political cleansing that is perpetrated on the masses by a powerful minority, funded by the wealthy. Thanks for a very well thought out view of this situation. I surmise from both commentors that adding younger healthier folks to the pool would actually bring down the costs and be more affordable. Not a perfect plan, but maybe an option that could get America over this unnecesarily emotional debate.
