I think Obama has earned the high ratings right now as he ran a near perfect campaign that demonstrated his sharp skills and his smart choice of people. His choice of advisers should be even more interesting as we look for smart individuals ready to bring change.

I think George Bush is a lost cause. His failed policies and actions speak for themselves. His failure to bring Osama Bin Laden in after so many years is just one of many failures. Getting into a war where we didn't belong is another. He deserves his low rating. We have suffered the last eight years. We have seen that the Republican theory of "trickle down economics" does not work. Executives have padded their salaries and given themselves unfounded bonuses in excess of billions of dollars. AIG wants more money for bailout and yet they haven't been made to answer to their excessive spending of $400,000 after the first bailout for a "retreat". What other excessive spending have they done? Things are out of control. The economy is out of control.

Now is a time for hope. A time for change. We must hold corporations accountable. And we must get our economy under control.

I don't know about the film but I do know that Lieberman lost my respect when he spoke against Obama for the McCain Campaign. I definitely believe he should lose his Chairmanship and far as the caucus is concerned, I think he chose his party ties during the campaign. Are we to believe that after supporting the Republicans, that he now wants to flip-flop back to the Democrats? After all, he disagreed with Obama's ideas, so now is he going to embrace them? I don't think so. So what good is he anyway? I just don't believe in him anymore. He's lost my respect and trust.

I wasn't sure whites would vote for a black man but they did, in record numbers. I was also glad to hear that the blacks turned out in numbers, standing in lines for 2 - 3 hours. And the young people turned out. Actually, 62,450,831 turned out to vote for Obama.
As far as I'm concerned the electorate reflected the choice of the people more this time than it did for Al Gore, who won the popular vote and lost by only a few hundred votes that would've been reversed with a recount.
People got involved in the whole process. Obama's campaign was financed by small donations from millions of people. Volunteers were everywhere working for the cause. People were making phone calls from their homes into key states. People were writing commentaries to clarify the McCain/Palin accusations that were untrue and raising fear among undecideds. We all did our part and definitely participated in a true democratic process. We succeeded in change by working together. My spirits are therefore hightened from all of this and I have a new belief in people. We can do it. I just hope people continue to be involved in what happens next.

I agree with you Chris J. I feel the Repugs played such dirty tricks when campaigning, saying Obama was a terrorist, unamerican, etc. That it made the hard right go nuts and increased the death threats on Obama and his family. And despite their efforts Obama won, but they've spent the last couple weeks (before and after the elction) buying guns and ammo. They are so sure that Obama will take their guns away.
His only comment I heard was against oozies. I don't think they should be available either, they end up in the hands of crooks or menatally ill people and kill people. There was a case on TV where a father gave his 8 year old son an oozie to shoot, it rebound and shot the kid in his head killing him instantly. They should be used only by our armies in war. That's where they really belong. Otherwise I have no problem with rifles or hand guns and I bet Obama doesn't either. These hard right people are just paranoid individuals that go to the extremes in thinking, I don't care if they stay in their homes and hide. When they start seeing changes maybe they'll come out, maybe not. They may refuse to believe too. I really don't care. I care more for people with good common sense. Those people voted for Obama. LOL.

Obama has one home and one car and the only thing fancy is his graduation from Harvard which is a wonderful qualification for President.

During this election, Palin has been running against Obama, not Joe Biden. I sincerely question McCain's choice of VP when, in an interview, she couldn't name one newspaper or magazine she has read. The McCain campaign has done quite a job protecting her from the press and the interviews they have let her do, she has shown her ignorance of the issues of the country.

And if she is a proud American, an American of the people why is her husband a cessationalist who wants to separate from the USA who she supports. And McCain chose not to consider this in his appointment of Palin. How is she like all of us?

There is a big difference between the candidates. McCain is a believer in the trickle down theory; give the rich and corporations the tax cuts and they will trickle these profits down to the people. But it doesn't work. The corporations give themselves higher salaries and bigger bonuses and little trickles down to us. Obama believes in building upwards. Give the middle class more tax cuts amd this will create more spending which will increase the need for higher production and profit. Right now the only ones getting a tax cut right now are the rich and the corporations thanks to George Bush, and McCane wants to make these tax cuts permanent. This is why we need a change otherwise it's 4 more years like the last 8 years with Bush.
