		        <![CDATA[<p>You could play guilt by association on a national scale.  The entire history of the Cold War was shaped by the US promoting the world's meanest tyrants and crooks because we could control them. You have Pinochet, Sadam Hussein's, the Taliban (even, yet), that guy now residing in the twelfth basement from Panama, whom we later could not control, and so on.  John Foster Dulles used to say, "They may be bad guys, but at least they are our bad guys."  </p>

<p>Does that make us a bad nation?  Oops.  Point taken.</p>]]>
