Bitter Media Control Epiphany????

I was just thinking, how could the media get it so wrong?? There's no controversy to what he said. But I think he touched a nerve with corporate america and corporate media. His words told truth to power to these people and if it had gone on uncontested, then these people might just realize that they've been oppressed for so long and wake up and start a revolution.

This affects all of corporate america. They can't have poor people starting to descent and go against everything that they had been brainwashed with since they were young.

If they wake up and revolt, media loses the control they have over them. They've already lost a little of it with youtube.  The media started to panic a few years ago with the innovation of independent oline media forums like Dailykos, talkingpointsmemo and americablog.com. They then tried to conquer that tool and incorporate "blogging". Thus, you have CNN's  360 blog, MSNBC's first read, Politico, Huffingtonpost. They even bought out Ana Marie Cox's wonkette.com She went to time.com and then got canned. It's all about conquer and control.

If the poor people revolt, corporate america loses control. When the people speaks, descent and become independent, corporate america loses political power, consumer pricing power, production power, money power, environmental waste power, shareholder power, etc.

If the oppressed revolt, politician's lose power and control. If their political divisive message of guns, race and religion is overturned, then they have nothing left but to either get the fuck out of washington or do their fucking job.

But make no mistake, the political, corporate and media control are all intertwined with one another which explains why they all all of the sudden turned on Barack. They now want to destroy him because if he gets too far ahead, they will all lose control and then the people will control again.

BREAKING: Hypocrite Bill Clinton Flashback comments similar to Obama's

Bill Clinton Flashback: "All These Economically Insecure White People...Are Scared To Death"

As the rumination continues over Barack Obama's comments about economically-depressed small town voters, statements made by Bill Clinton on the same topic -- uttered while he was running for president in 1991 -- have now surfaced.

"The reason (George H. W. Bush's tactic) works so well now is that you have all these economically insecure white people who are scared to death," Clinton was quoted saying by the Los Angeles Times in September 1991.

A couple months later, Joe Klein, writing for the Sunday Times, reported that Clinton made the following remarks:

"You know, he [Bush] wants to divide us over race. I'm from the South. I understand this. This quota deal they're gonna pull in the next election is the same old scam they've been pulling on us for decade after decade after decade. When their economic policies fail, when the country's coming apart rather than coming together, what do they do? They find the most economically insecure white men and scare the living daylights out of them. They know if they can keep us looking at each other across a racial divide, if I can look at Bobby Rush and think, Bobby wants my job, my promotion, then neither of us can look at George Bush and say, 'What happened to everybody's job? What happened to everybody's income? What ... have ... you ... done ... to ... our ... country?'"

Compare these remarks to Obama's statement, reported by Mayhill Fowler for Huffington Post's OffTheBus:

Here's how it is: in a lot of these communities in big industrial states like Ohio and Pennsylvania, people have been beaten down so long, and they feel so betrayed by government, and when they hear a pitch that is premised on not being cynical about government, then a part of them just doesn't buy it. And when it's delivered by -- it's true that when it's delivered by a 46-year-old black man named Barack Obama (laugher), then that adds another layer of skepticism (laughter). [...]

But the truth is, is that, our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when there's not evidence of that in their daily lives. You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations

Will it help you understand if I simplify it in a sportsmanship perspective? Really?

Are we joking or are we part of those voters that just vote their economic interest away.

You know I've been reading posts all day just trying to get a feel of the landscape on this issue. There are quite few people that were sold onto Obama before but after hearing his comment, it has made them even a stronger supporter of Obama. I happen to be one of them. He really gets it. There is no game playing. A high school dropout can read or listen to his comments and understand where he is coming from. It's the real deal.

Now also intermixed in the blog comments, I heard the most negative comments about Barack. People twisting his words around, calling him elitist, condescending, arrogant, uppity. I'm thinking, "you can't be serious". Really? Then I come to realize that these are either Republicans or fervent Clinton supporters. May I add, fervent Clinton supporters that are either older women or Anti-obama. I mean I can understand the women supporters because they had been waiting on this day for the longest and now it's been taken from them. They don't have another 25 years to go, you know. So I'll let them have their argument.  Then there are those that feel they have no other choice but to vote for Hillary (because there is no way in hell that they would vote for Obama for so many superficial reasons other than race.) But I would hope for them to read this post sober. If not yet sober, then come back tommorrow.

I need for a reader to just answer me when was the last time you heard a politician actually speak truth to power on something without the evasive, politically correct language? See, even though Obama came out with a loose tongue, he said it with empathy, compassion and truth. If anyone denies it, then I'm just going to buckle up my boots, because we would still have a long way to go in this country.

Let's be honest. Clinton has absolutely no way to get the nomination unless she tears the party up. If you agree with that with doing that, then you guys belong together. But there is at least one important factor here... People's lifes are at stake here. I understand that politics is like a sportmanship, but sometimes you need to put the baseball bat or hockey stick down and assess the goal and score record. In this situation, we are in the 3rd quarter, was once up by 10 points but now down by 3 points. We are not in a homecourt advantage. Their team are more built and fight dirty with elbows. We only got a 3-point play to make this. If we don't make it, then we are doomed again. Now back to reality, there are people who are hanging by a peice of thread who need a democrat President. Again, IT'S NOT A GAME, IT'S REAL. Hillary, can't overcome the delegates. If she continue to fight nasty like this, we'll just be watching Mccain waltz during his inauguration ball. And some Americans will still be hazardly hanging by that same peice of thread. And some of them will be those same small town voters that Obama was talking honestly about.

I'll let you relish on the rest. Thank you.

ATTN OBAMA SUPPORTERS: DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE & FIGHT THE POWER

The obvious is now the obvious. The writing is almost dry on the wall. Obama will win this nomination. Hillary can't get a grip on herself. The media couldn't trick America into believing that Rev. Wright is Obama or Obama is Rev. Wright. Mccain is coming up in the polls because he is being unchallenged. You have Wolf Blitzer trying to twist and scare us by debating who would be better on the economy between Obama and Clinton but excludes Mccain out of the discussion.  What?? Clinton is still playing, 'Who wants to be the victim?' card. Wondering why people view her as a clown. Today she has been kind of quiet. Wait! Look out, here comes the toilet bowl strategy!! The only thing the media can smear Obama on is the association of people who has crossed his paths. I say this with grief and impatience, my Obama supporters, but please buckle up your boots and hold on tight. We've apparently got 2-1/2 months to go and I think that we've yet to see the worse that is going to be thrown at Obama at all angles.

I've been hanging on real tight the last few days and witnessing the best they everyone have against Obama - Rev. Wright and this so- called connection with Bill Ayers. No connection at all. I admit that it's been real dispiriting. After suffering and weathering 8 whole years of this failed Bush presidency, I really had something to look forward to. But I felt that it would be the sunny side up no matter the out come. Of course, until then I saw the Clinton's for who they really are finally. We really do need a change meaning no more Bush nor Clintons. Change can be good or bad. Obama or Mccain. I just ask that you guys to stay strong and don't allow them to sway and wither you. Think of it as a test.

I wrote a diary the other day explaining Hillary's long term strategy is. She wants to bore us to death or for us to become impatient or disenchanted and throw in the whiteflag.

I don't know about you guys but I'm starting to get disenchanted with this democrat race. Since Iowa I have been following the election 24/7 and watching every move. I'm usually very focused around this time and during the congressional races but I've never been as serious as this. As anxiety had kicked in weeks ago, my emotions and focus are now starting to dissipate on this battle. I wonder if that's what Hillary is intending on? Does she want the young folks to get bored and get turned off? Well, I'm 32 but I wonder if the younger kids are starting to get turned even more? This can't be good for Obama.
He clearly has to know that people are getting too anxious or turned off.

Well, since then I've been recharged. We are not going to let that  happen because we've just missed out on 8 important years of our life with Bush. For 8 years, we've lost so much sleep, freedom, and hope that we can't afford to lose anymore. No more hijacking.

Buckle up your boots Obama supporters and don't allow them to sway you. That's what they want you to do. These media people (corporations) have incorporated interest in both Mccain and Clinton. Especially Mccain. He'll keep us in the war. The Clinton's are just pure entertainment and ratings for the media. Straight clowns and they love it as long as the attention is on them.

It has been proven that Obama does plan on doing this thing different. He is not specializing on specific minority or interest groups so that he could be "owned" in his own presidency. We, the public, fund his campaign. He believes in equal rights for everyone. He doesn't need to pander to different groups for funding and endorsments just for that group to come back for a "favor"  That's what we want in a president. Ben Smith, Politico has a nice post commenting on Obama's outlook on this:

But Obama's disinclination to narrowcast, and to target small groups, is an area where his campaign matches his message, and it extends beyond specialty press. He got very few labor endorsements in the first stage of the campaign, for instance, because he didn't pander or focus on narrow issues when he talked to labor groups. Hillary would talk to labor groups about their specific contract conditions, or on a battle over tips, and get roaring applause. Obama would give his stump speech, and receive a tepid response. They came to him, in the end, giving them less leverage over him.

He's also lagged on the fundraising organized by ethnicity: Clinton has been successful in raising millions from specific Asian communities -- Fujianese, Indians; Obama (with the exception of the surge in big African-American money) less so. This applies to electioneering as well: Hillary occasionally sends out press releases to please the Polish, say, or Greek communities, honoring holidays or anniversaries; Obama does much less frequently.

The result, in this case, is that the communities have had to come to him. I spoke with a prominent gay leader about this recently, and he expressed mixed feelings: He likes Obama's message and his promises; but he feels that the organized community -- and the leader himself -- can't call Obama on the phone, remind him of past favors, and demand allegiance, if he wavers once in the White House.

Still, on balance, Obama's promises to be a different White House when it comes to the relationship to the traditional power brokers. He's made fewer promises, and owes less, to labor, and to the organized civil rights communities. And he owes much less, of course -- and most important of all -- to the people who give many of those communities their clout: large donors.

Last thing to comment on - We may have disagreements in his presidency and it may not be perfect, but from what I've witnessed thus far in these last year of campaigning, this is the president that we've been waiting for.

WOLF BLITZER IS THE BIGGEST SHILLEST A-HOLE

On his Special Edition tonight on the election, he just said that the delegate race is close. And Carville agreed that Clinton has a chance to pass him up. And nobody corrected them. How can you have your own show and push lies just for the sake of Hillary. I'm so done with CNN!!!!!

Is Obama Challenging the media?

I've realized Obama is consistent on his message regarding compressing a numerous sermons into 30 second soundbytes. While he is saying this I'm wondering, is that good enough?  Don't he needs to elaborate a little more? Well, I think anyone with a critical mind knows that it's really hard to get the full picture of something if you don't review the whole context. I would hope that anyone would know that, whether they have critical thinking skills or not. But anyways, it's just an observation that I've made. So I hope that you guys can possibly provide more insight on this. The fact that he is staying on message about this in all of his interviews, is he channeling the audience to really think fully about this? And he sounds so confident and positive about it. But I think he is also challenging the media who dishonestly chose to show these miniclips without the full context. By him continously saying this, he's putting the media on spot by forcing them to show the full sermons. I think it's rather brilliant. What are your thoughts?

A different view on the Wright/Obama situation

I will not be ashamed of saying this.. I am actually proud of my country at this point in my life. I mean listening to the diversed, thoughtful and open posts on here, I truly believe in what Obama thinks regarding everyone wanting to  get past the divisions. I mean over a year ago, I would have never thought that. You see, I am African American and it's the best thing in the world. But I will admit that sometimes it's a struggle to be optimistic and to believe that you are waking up every morning to go to work with a group of people that are culturally different from you but that they depend and appreciate you because of your intellect and work ethic. But I will also admit that those thoughts are overated because my coworkers think equally highly of me. But sometimes it is a struggle to believe and understand that. But to be a pessimist will only perpetuate the ongoing cylce and fester and manifest mentally and physically. Then the end result would probably be the same situation from older generations. And then I would have to ask myself "Is this what you want to offer to your kids, neices, nephews and other young relatives and friends. Despair, self worthlessness and negativity?

You see I am only 31 years old and some change. I grew up in a disadvantage home and community mixed with blacks and a fast, populating hispanic group.  However, I never knew that I was at an disadvantage until I got older and was traveling outside of my urban areas into "higher tax paying areas". I then knew...  But that never stopped me from dreaming of leaving.

I first learned about MLK in the first grade. And it was a pretty generic study at that time. No footage of dogs, waterhose, spitting, killing and hate. I guess that would have been too much for a young kid.  But I just knew it was something to be in honor of. I was blank slate. Nothing but honor and joy. As years progressed, my studies of him and the racism of both during and before the civil rights times just made me even angrier, less validated and second class although I failed to realize that things were changing. Keep in mind I was also required to focus and manage others personalized things of myself as a whole. The teachings and mentality of society and history had institutionalized my whole generation. Just like the Jews, we were taught to remember everything that happened to our ancestors and never forget it. We were taught it was them vs. us. But yet, we had insight of the white community and had to adapt to that culture simply because they own everything and were the majority of population. We had to adapt and conform to everything we saw on TV, soft angelic looks like the blondes, adapt communication skills like them to succeed in corporate america.  We basically had to adapt to everthing to be considered acceptable and important. I guess you can say we understand the ways of whites as it was normalized. It is the standard. Nothing looked foreign when it comes to their idiosyncracies. But when the black community were amongst their own kind in their own little box, i.e neighborhood, church, family reunion gathering, african american celebrations, we speak our own language without any regrets or apologies. It has been like this for a long time and we've been here a very long time. But yet, some of our traditions and ways are still foreign, misunderstood and not accepted. Why haven't whites at least been able to be on the outside looking in to understand us? Are we invisible? My point is maybe if white people are more encouraged and open to come to our communities, any venue and get a feel for what it is. It's not drugs, violence, pimps and hoes. I think that if we are seen more in the media, then America would probably receive a different outlook on Rev. Wright's miniclips.

The first thing I thought when I saw the videos of Dr. Wright wasn't that he was a racist but that mainstream America, the uninformed, and the undiversed groups would never understand what he is talking about. But would mistake it as hate. His delivery is very strong and aggressive which goes back to that whole myth about being afraid of an agressive, black man. I just wish that everyone who received a a negative feeling once seeing the videos would take a time out and actually try to understand where he was coming from with all the history on racial divisions. I don't think he is saying these things out of pure, unconscious hate.  There is more to the story. Also, the black traditions in the church are very distinctively different from evangelical, jewish, islamic, etc faith institutions. They are all different. And if you don't know much about the history or cultures of many, you may walk away with a negative feeling. I just wish all cultures weren't so misunderstood. One way to eradicate the ignorance and be more acceptive of everyone's differences is to start with the parents, education and being amongst diversified groups.

I just want to say thank you to TPM and other pioneering bloggers and writers. Because of this site, I as an average citizen of this country have the access to personalize my thoughts and not solely rely on the Sharptons and Jacksons of my community. I just hope the readers get something from this if not much from the rap videos and minstrel shows that regrettably portray us as one dimensional. Thank you.
