I hope Dems focus on keeping a health care solution as lean and mean as possible and not weighed down with a thousand pages of side-programs and loopholes, but that's probably asking too much.

You can treat Democrats however you want, and the most you'll get in return is a sternly worded letter.

The Union started dinging our paychecks, and the only thing they really did before I left was defend a couple of scumbag coworkers from sexual harrassment charges which they very clearly deserved.

I support Big Labor in theory, but what I've seen in practice makes me think its a bit of a racket.

And I'm sorry, but the Unions are part of the cost issues at American automakers. When you're paying 30% more for labor, you have to charge 30% for cars. We can't really produce economy cars in the U.S. because the sale prices are too low to cover the high costs of production.

The automakers have their share of poor management and design issues, to be sure. But I have two advanced degrees, and there are workers standing on assembly lines in Detroit, putting the same rivet into the same car door all day long, making higher pay with better benefits than I do.

I'm fine that they're prosperous, but just commonsense-wise, seems like their is an imbalance there that cannot hold forever. Which may be why the taxpayers are regularly asked to bail out the car companies.

And if the Dems turn out to be a bunch of weak-kneed sissies who can't face down a Joe Lieberman, I'm going back. Because I'll have no respect for the Dem establishement. And they'll have to try to win over guys like me all over again next time. Pretty stupid of them, I think.

What leverage does this "aide" imagine Lieberman has? Keeping his big yap shut and playing nice is his best bet, but his ego won't let him.

I'm sure he doesn't want to interfere in the Senate so early after the election, but what the heck is the delay here?

There is no discussion. Strip him of his chairmanships, and don't think of giving him another for a long-ass time.

If there is any appearance of leniency towards Lieberman, I will be livid.

However, if done carefully, there is much greater support now for real fixes to healthcare and entitlements. But if its handled rashly, we'll spend the next 8 years posturing some more with nothing to show.

My favorite part of the speech was when he asked what kind of changes we'd be responsible for over the next 100 years. That's the way we have to think now.

There is a hell of a lot facing the next government, but I've decided to just savor this for awhile.

Unfortunately, this selfless move on his part would mean the indefinite postponing of Tuesday's election, but we'd understand he's putting country first.
