If I hear McCain quote Ayers as saying he wished he bombed more one more time.... It's just not true, at all.
When is someone going to call out McCain to his face?
I understand why Obama is cautious about it, he doesn't want to be in the position of defending Ayers, in any way. Even if it is defending him from a blatant lie, it doesn't play well and is easy to distort and use against him.
But geez, it makes me twitch and squirm every time I hear it. Arg!

Perhaps today will be the turning point where McCain-Palin finally finds a away to turn around the economy as a positive for the campaign.
How you say? By it being so bad that it buries the story of the "Troopergate" report far down or even off the front pages. The strategy appears to be to distract voters from their corruption with their incompetence.
Brilliant!
p.s.
How many decades have to pass since Watergate before we can stop attaching the "gate" suffix to every frickin' scandal. It's beyond tired.

I don't normally pay much attention to Alaska in a presidential election, expecting it to be solidly red. This year is no exception, but I just happens to look in a bit more detail. McCain-Palin is polling at +15.
Solid lead no doubt, but compare it to 2000 (+27) & 2004 (+31) and +15 is nothing short of stunning. Especially since the supposedly most popular governor in the country is on the ticket.
I don't know a lot about Alaskan politics or the electorate there, but my since has always been that it is made up of generally conservative but fiercely independent voters. I've seen some state polls that show here popularity dwindling since she joined the campaign. Since she's likely headed back there in a month I wonder just how much she has damaged he political career in her Caseyesque swing for hte Whitehouse fences.

No seriously, Alaska is just not that much like the rest of America. Not all states have their resources, most states 4th largest city has more than 8000 people living in it.
Point it out.

I think there is still gold to be mined in attaching McCain to Bush. However instead of just attaching them why not take the chance and remind why that is such a bad thing. Play up exactly what they are trying to play down, paint Bush endorsing him as a bad thing, something like this comes to mind:
George Bush said that John McCain is ready to lead.
You know who else Mr. Bush thought where ready to lead?
Scooter Libby - Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff
Convicted - Obstruction of Justice
Kyle Dustin “Dusty” Foggo
Indicted - Bribery
Micheal "Hekuva Job" Brown - Undersecretary of Emergency Preparedness and Response
Failed to mange response to Katrina
Steven Griles - Deputy Secretary at the Interior Department
Convicted - (Obstruction of Justice)
Bernard Kerik - nominated, Secretary, Department of Homeland Security
Indicted - Bribery, Tax Fraud, False Statements
The list goes on. Just what does he mean by "Ready to Lead" ?
