Sing A Song
Now this is how you do it. Make your point in a classy, non-threatening way which still grabs attention. Republican obstructionists and Blue Dogs take note: we're not stupid. And we have the ability to not only remember ... but to vote.
Abilities tend to strengthen when stretched - much like muscles. We just need to exercise.

OH what sweet way to protest. That was the way it was many times as you know Missy.
The PROTEST SONG. The marches were not military marches, but long walks as Gandhi taught MLK. ha
Long walks with SONGS. And MLK would take a song from Pete Seger and thousands would sing it together.
No guns. no sticks besides the ones used to hold the posters.
Then RFK and MLK get shot. Less singin and more shootin..
I link my favorite protest song all the time the last few weeks...

Singin represents community. I do not know what Jungian theorem that comes from, but it is so.
I know it in my soul.

Awesome, awesome, awesome.
Makes me wanna sing.

Sing as loudly as possible, guys. As often and as off-tune as you choose. Most of us don't sound like those folks ... but the song remains the same.

This is the other one that nags me all the time:

Perfect. We need to remember that we are part of a family, and to take care of each other.
Nagging often required.

That makes me cry, especially at the end of their Holiday album; it came after 'Light One Candle.'
Gads, both are 3-kleenex affairs.
These are in a different vein, one potest, one poignant.

Rachel Maddow had that clip; I heard it this morning. It was fabulous! Billionaires for health reform, indeed!

Yes, I saw it on her show and went searching for a link with some background. Loved it!

Terrific! I like to muse that all of us are in the TPM choir - or at very least, backup singers for the cause!
Thanks Missy, started my day with a big smile and I'll be 'humming' the tune all day!

I've been humming it all day, Aunt Sam. Of course, I've also had "Sing A Song" in my head ...
Sing
Sing a song
Make it simple,
To last your whole life long -
Don't worry if it's not good enough
For anyone else to hear,
Just sing
Sing a song!
;-)

I loved Sesame Street as a kid, gosh...
Sing of good times,
not bad...
Sing of happy,
not sad...
Thanks, Missy.

I still love Sesame Street! 'Course, I'm also still a kid at heart - even when the world of grown-up conspires against me.

This is how you do it. Very well-done and nobody got hurt, and hopefully everyone in the room was impressed by it, and the lyrics are sticking in their heads even now.
Really impressive, what these folks did.
Thanks for this post, Missy. I believe CVille also posted a link to YouTube in a comment elsewhere, but it makes more sense to me now that I've read the article you linked us to.

Really impressive, indeed. And extremely well planned. I love that they started with applause, and then blew everyone away with their formal distain.
Regarding the article, I found the additional information very helpful. Glad to hear it helped to clarify for you, as well. Like minds, and all that!

I loved this, Missy! Had neighbors trooping through the house off and on today and they were all treated to the video. Everyone highly praised it.
But you do not ever.ever.ever. want me to sing. I promise.

Not a problem, shell. There's a lyrical quality to your thoughts that is beautifully expressed by your words. So just keep singing.

Wow! I'm beaming! What a nice thing to say. And I won't forget it, either. (I promise.)
Linus just winked at you. You two and your confidences. Honestly.

Yeah, we have a "thing". I wander through his dreams and he helps me to enjoy mine - all the while laughing and wagging our butts at the world.
We talk about you all the time. Seems Linus kinda has a "thing" for you. ;)
