Thank You
One last post regarding the TPM Chip-in event we organized two weeks ago. To call it a phenomenal success would be the understatement of the year!
The costs that were incurred by seashell and thepeoplechoose have been reimbursed, although there is no amount of money in the world that can repay their generosity of character and spirit. Seashell, take an extended bow.
The long journey The Old Grouch selflessly agreed to undertake in order to tie up loose ends (and the related expenses), turned out to be unnecessary. Truth be told, I think both he and DickDay were disappointed by that fact. Another time, boys.
The remaining funds contributed with so much love and joy have been forwarded to DickDay. Don't tell him I said this, but I see a new pair of burn-hole-free PJ's, a six pack of beer and a carton of cigarettes in his future. Shhh! There he is ... pretend we're talking about something else.
Finally - a personal moment, if I may. Were it not for Face (I don't know how to do an upside-down question mark) none of this would have taken place. He stood up and declared his desire to help, with a clear and succinct idea. Such a simple thing. Yet, in this world of ours, so rare. Because of him, the Cafe banded together and made it happen. Thoughts flew, fingers typed, a community flowered and a life was changed. To have been a part of that miracle is a memory I will treasure forever.
As I will forever treasure you. Thank you.

Thank YOU Missy, for collecting the funds and making it so easy. Thank you Seashell and Old Grouch for the help you gave and offered, and yes, a big thank you to Face in the Crowd for pulling us all together to make our friend happy and bring him back to us.
I love this place. I love you all.

A round of applause for all. And extra for those who did the mostest! That includes dd for accepting the goodwill of so many. :)

Dear Thera, always thinks on both sides of every issue.
It's a gift.

You're right, Thera. Yet Dick's smart enough to get out of the way when a tidal wave is heading in his direction - I'm afraid we didn't give him much choice! He has handled the onslaught of love dumped in his lap with a gracious aplomb.

OK, who told you? Honestly, the whole thing was supposed to happen in the middle of the night by tiny computer fairies with the TPMCafe logo on their butts. Sigh.

And this system rocks!!

As a fund raising group, I think we put the Catholics to shame with this one. Missy, as the head fund raiser, I'm surprised that you haven't had several job offers already for the way you handled the effort!
It is a privilege and a pleasure to be a part of this group in the Cafe. And on that note, and because puppies are just not good at bowing, I'd like to propose the best way to celebrate that I know:
CHEEZBURGERS FOR EVERYONE! TWO CHEEZBURGERS FOR FACE!
Finally much luv to dd, with as many cheezburgers, beer and cigarettes as he wants.

I adore cheezburgers! It's a party at seashell's place! Can I get one with chili and slaw and onions (promise not to breathe on anyone) and ketchup and mustard (the fancy stuff Obama likes!) and relish and ... and ... what else 'ya got? I really just want to wear part of it home.

Have as many and with whatever you want, Missy. I think I'll take the wearing it home as a sign that I should not clean the floor first!

Thanks for keeping everyone posted, Missy...It sure is good to have Arthur back!

Stilli, you were great as the sender and forwarder of addresses and getting the needed info to the right people. Not to mention, monitoring your phone for a day and a night waiting for the 'person of interest' to finally call!

I wonder if the librarian misses him? She didn't even get to know the real dd, pj's with burn holes and all.

Who wouldn't. Poor thing, she's probably wandering the streets clutching smokes and whiskey to entice poor unsuspecting Dickon...

Seashell is right, still. Without you doing the behind the scenes coordination, nothing would have worked as smoothly as it did. You were absolutely invaluable ... as you always are.
I owe you an extra special thank you, with sugar on top.

BF,and EVERYONE else,
This was actually quite fun, and goes a long way towards proving one axiom I try to live by
"tis better to give than to receive" especially when we get SO MUCH in return for our efforts.
I would name names but I am sure I would miss someone, so I will just say, it is an honor to be able to call YOU ALL my friends.
ALSO, Keep an eye out for more we can do when the opportunity presents itself.
THANKS AGAIN!
PS: not allowed to talk for 2 MORE WEEKS... but so far so good.

'Let your fingers do the talkin' via the 'puter keyboard! C'mon - we always 'listen' to ya!
Glad to hear you are doing well.

Further thoughts:
Everyone involved really stepped up - nicely done, all.
Welcome back, DD - I've said it many times already and so have others, and I just don't get tired of it.
We may be able to apply things we've done here to other efforts, as long as they are carefully selected and very well-defined. This was a group of people banding together to do one thing. We did that.
I'm still willing and able to give my time if something I can do is within reach.
Thanks to Still, Seashell, Face, Missy (of course!) and everyone I'm forgetting - organizing this was the real work. You're the best.

For once we can answer your question: We know the Noble Cause. It was good and just and right. Means and Ends were all that and more. :)
