Happy Birthday, Mom
Happy Birthday, Mom!
I know you love the card, you always do - even the ones I buy on the go some years from a local crappy grocery store. Oh, gosh, sorry! A less-than-average grocery store. I actually like this one, though. Spent loads of time at the Hallmark store searching for just the right one written by someone you've never heard of. I don't think I've ever been so impressed by a professional greeting card composer's melodic use of words. Isn't the stranger's artwork lovely, the colors just the right hue? I knew you'd think so, just as I knew you'd tell me how wonderful I am for always choosing just the right card. But no matter how magnificent the glossy paper inside the pretty envelope, I know what brings that mist to your eyes. It's the words I add by my own hand, brief as they may be. The ones that say I love you and whisper my voice in your ear.
