Hi there, come on in.  Thanks for dropping by, I was hoping you would.  Seems like most everyone else is busy talking to others about all sorts of important stuff.  Yes, yes, of course you're right.  With everything going on in this great big world of ours discussion of the highest magnitude is necessary.  Essential, even.  It's just that sometimes ... well, you know what I mean.  You always do.  Anyway, appears as though it may just be the two of us this evening - so I thought we'd make it special.  I've a couple of bottles of wine chilling, the Zinfandel is in the bucket on ice.  Real glasses, too!  Some munchies on the table; various cheeses and dips, crackers and veggies.  Don't worry, I know you.  Plenty of chips and pretzels.  If you don't see what you want, just wander into the kitchen and find it.  It's all about being at home, with me, tonight.

Are you settled?  Good, throw me a couple of those pillows if you can reach them.  Thanks.  Hmm?  Oh, it's Snow Patrol.  I like them, laid back and quiet for the most part.  I've got it turned down so we can talk - is that all right with you?  Now that our glasses are filled you have to try this blue crab dip.  Captain's wafer, probably.  I know!  It's so good, and so easy to make.  Okay, okay!  I think there's some glazed ones on the counter that aren't stale yet.  If they're alittle hard, nuke 'em for a second.  Just eat it quick while it's warm - yea, like I need to tell you how to handle a doughnut.

So how's life treating you lately?  That's nice to know, I'm really glad to hear it.  I know things were tough for awhile.  Yes, it does tend to be like that, sometimes.  Me?  Not too bad.  I've got a good feeling about this year ahead, even though I have no real idea why.  Oh, of course, he's a huge part of it.  But I have to admit that I'm still anxious about what's facing our country, and the horrors in the world.  No doubt, you have a definite point.  There's no one better to lead us into it ... and hopefully through to the other side.  Let's toast to that!

Quiet.  It's so lovely to be with someone with whom you can experience peace.  No conversation necessary to share a multitude of thoughts.  If you get tired, there's the ugly blue chair that is perfect for snoozing.  Or the lap of a good friend, with a soft pillow at the ready.  Then again, we can talk all night if you'd rather.  It may be my living room, but tonight it belongs to you.
