We can now project that Barack Obama has been elected the forty-fourth President of the United States.
Do you remember? Close your eyes, feel it again. Hear the cheers, the joyous exhaultation. Open your eyes, see it again. People crying, holding strangers, hardly able to comprehend the words. Remember. Just for a moment, as you belittle everything since and scream that it's not going your way, remember. Hope. Just for a moment, as you allow disappointment to consume and anger to wash you away, hope. Believe. Just for a moment, as you question every decision and proclaim your might is right, believe.
A new year awaits. A new President awaits. Remember. Hope. Believe. We've all waited long enough.

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams" - Eleanor Roosevelt

Amen! Seems we've been waiting forever. The excitement is growing, even as we watch our known world in these trying times. Please help us be patient while a new President & his team begin cleaning up after the old one. It will take time , but hope is alive & well.

Hugging strangers. Love that. The whole campaign for me was about meeting new people and working together toward a common purpose, for a couple of hours or several months. That night, I was at a party at our local democratic club. My favorite moment was receiving a text message from my friend in Ohio, before they announced Ohio on the televisions we were watching. Her text said simply, "My state rocks." I started jumping up and down, showed the man next to me, who I never saw before and will likely never see again, and we joined arms and jumped up and down together. I was so tired that night that I don't think it really sank in for me. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for the nice thought. Beats where we were eight years and ten days ago! (But who's counting?)

With all of the stress and strife, it's nice to remember when we all came together. If we try hard enough, we can do it more often.

When KO announced his #1 Favorite People of 2008, Us, he showed all the people in Chicago on election night and I just started crying. After all the garbage and silly shit that has happened since, I really needed to see that.

I remember just crying. And WOO HOO'ing. And then crying again. And then WOO HOO'ing again.
And somewhere during that night, I remember saying to something that I'm not sure is up there, but GOD it's come close these days to proving itself, I said, "Hey! Thanks!!"
