Marshall is right Obama and surrogates -- hammer away "straight-talk" has become "low-road"

Obama does not need to do negative ads.

He needs to push a new tag line ---

To escape talking about the issues Americans care about, to escape saying "They have the same policies as George W. Bush," they are going to talk tabloid news.

My friends, I'm sad to say the "straight talk express" has become the "low road express." Now, let's start talking about how to fix the failed polices of the Bush years that John McCain wants to continue...

HRC not VEEP material

Appearing on CBS's "Face the Nation", Clinton senior strategist Howard Wolfson said McAuliffe is "absolutely right" that Clinton didn't want to apologize to Obama for the remark and said: "I think it was unfortunate to attack Senator Clinton's remarks without knowing fully what she had said."

Pretty clear why she is not likely to be Bam's selection for VEEP. Even Die-hard Clinton supporters immediately recognized and recoiled in horror by the remark.

She rode the Obama "bitter" comment into the ground , including debate, stump speeches, television, radio and mailers.  Yet, when she has worse comments -- Bosnia (a clear lie), RFK (a false statement on primary length) not to mention the ghoulish subtext. She absolutely refuses to actually apologize to move beyond the controversy.

In addition, you can watch the whole interview, her comments are NOT taken out of context. She meant a long primary season -- the two examples are wrong, as numerous sources have stated. WJC had the nomination wrapped up after March, RFK had only participated in 13 primaries by June.

Her best tactic is to move beyond it. But, their group has thrown tactics to the wind a long time ago, and are just trying to hang on.

Quick Thoughts on ABC Debate

Wow, the moderation of the debate was quite embarrassing in its format.

I believe the first 45-50 minutes were spent on pundit questions that looked like contra-Obama talking points.  This in and of itself was fine, except that it really lacked the format of a debate.

Second, if the first was not embarrassing enough there were a vast series of ABC policy gaffes that came about as the two moderators tried to flex their "comphrension" of details. Er. Lack thereof...

Gibson had a reference to some arcane provision in the constitution, that has been superseeded by a new amendment, in addition to thinking 200,000 USD is middle class.

Showing his true colors as someone completely divorced with the reality of middle class Americans.
