Democrats need to SIMPLIFY the Message

Democrats are doing what they do the worst --
They are taking an issue where they are right and where they have the moral high ground and letting it become a political advantage for the Republicans

Who reading this has the talent and ability to do a very simple visual to get the following point across

Take a simple map and highlight in yellow all the lands the government already signed over leases to the Oil Company--and ask as the title

68 Million acres of Leases the Oil Company's earned from the Bush Administration and have not yet drilled on

And the tag line -
GREED IS NOT GOOD
-----------------------
A simple visual -

Today on the talk shows we watched everyone from Nancy Pelosi to Tom Daschle try and go up against the Republican machine on Energy

And this is the bottom line--
the republican message - which we KNOW is not true - is that democrats are not letting a vote on drilling and that is why you gas is $4 a gallon

This is an easy and upsetting piece of information that LOW information voters get

Hence the 65% of the US population now in favor of additional drilling

LET'S HELP THE DEMS SIMPLIFY THE MESSAGE

LET'S GET AN EASY TO READ MAP SHOWING THE 68 MILLION ACRES THAT ARE READY TO GO AND TELL THE OIL COMPANIES

"GO FOR IT!"
--

I got the follow up ready as soon as we get this off the ground

"Sorry" seems to be the toughest word--

One of the more disturbing points about Hillary Clinton's statements Friday to the Argus Ledger - is that when the Senator appeared in front of the vegatable aisle in a local supermarket - she failed to take responisbility for what she herself had said--

1: Why not say - "I was tired and certainly would never wish anything untoward ......."
2: No expression of regret to Sen Obama - a man, a husband and the father of 2 young children

This is all confirmation of how the Hillary (and Bill) Clinton machine thinks - and how they would run the country this time -

The pattern of the Clinton mindset continues today in her Daily News editoral and on Sunday TV pundit land.

This morning Howard Wolfson on "Face the Nation" essentially said this incident Friday was Senator Obama's fault for "fanning the flames"
--
Is there anyone who could possible think talking about "assassination" in any context is something Sen Obama - or his family or his campaign would be happy about?

And made so much worse by the timing - the weekend after Sen Ted Kennedy's grim diagnosis and two weeks before the 40th anniversary of that dark day in LA.

No flame fanning necessary Sir --
----
This incident, in a way, is not unlike Sen Clinton's Iraq war vote which to this day she has never apologized for.

We are ending the second term of a President and a Vice President who cannot admit to a mistake on any level --

This is now a pattern for Senator Clinton and her team

They would rather twist, turn -- and yes, lie and distort - that just say "sorry" and move on

The Clintons learned all the wrong lessons these past eight years --

Rocky or Gandhi? VOTE NOW

What does this country need in a leader?

Let's look at today -
President Bush today had a Press Conference about the economy and basically blamed Congress

He wasn't even finished speaking when Nancy Pelosi issued the democratic response - blaming President Bush

This is why we don't need Rocky (or the Rockette) in the White House -- this country is hopelessly broken, the economy is in shambles, the US dollars has lost 60% of its values, Congress is in a stalemate, we are engaged in two wars and we are an embarrasment in the rest of the world

Who can fix this?

Do we need more fighter and ganmesmenship?
Or do we need real answers and action?

McCain is so far out of reality that unless Hillary Clinton is allowed to continue her 2012 strategy - there is no way McCain can win in November.

Hillary Clinton today represented the following:
(a) her Indiana commercials portray her as a child of Illinois (while this is true - she dumped her Scranton roots pretty quick - not to mention Arkansas and New York-)
(b) MUCH MUCH worse - Today Sen Clinton joined with Sen McCain in calling for this absurd Gasoline tax holiday -
Sen Clinton, unlike Sen McCain, knows better -- but in her full pander mode - she said we will pay for the lost revenue and jobs this will cause with a windfall profits tax (actually one of Obama's key energy bill points) on the Gas Companies.

What Sen Clinton fails to mention is that this windfall profit tax will never pass in the Bush administration - and we will need a democratic president and a 60% vote in the Senate and House for this to maybe pass in the future.

So basically this is Hillary Clinton - once again - saying and doing anything to continue on her re-invention as a populist tour.

So fellow TPM-ers-- what is it?

Rocky: who after all did lose (in the only good movie in the series)
or
Gandhi-mode- someone who knows we need to have truth, non violence and work together

The choice is now up to Indiana and North Carolina -- and we need to be out there in those states andon those boards making the case

We need to start over

VETTING

from Matt Ygelsias --

"It's worth noting that Hendrick Hertzberg (New Yorker) is absolutely right to say that it's just not true that Hillary Clinton has already been vetted, she "has not, in fact, survived the worst that the Republican attack machine (and its pilotless drones online and on talk radio) can dish out." There's a whole set of potential vulnerabilities dealing with pardons and finances from about 2000 to 2006 or 7 that haven't been explored in detail during the course of this or any other campaign. I don't really want to rehash those incidents because I think it's sleazy and their existence isn't the reason I think Clinton would be the worse nominee. But if you're out there thinking Obama's got this Ayers and Wrght stuff in the closet and Hillary has no new vulnerabilities for the GOP to explore you're fooling yourself. "

REMEMBER TO SPREAD THE WORD ON INDIANA BLOGS AND NEWSPAPERS!!

Hoosiers - the ball is in your court

They needed a second chance to finish first.
That's the tagline from the 1986 movie "Hoosiers"-
The story of the improbable 1954 Indiana High School basketball team than went all the way to the State Championship

And this is where we are today -- in the democratic primary race (okay the third chance - but you get the metaphor)

As in Pennsylvania when the democratic establishment ran the table for Hillary Clinton - Obama supporters need to help overcome this in Indiana-

Yes Sen Clinton has Evan Bayh - with deep family roots and as a former Gov as well as serving Senator but this is what Obama has going for him in Indiana

1: Proximity to Illinois
2: Open Primary
3: Under 10% African American population (read David Sirota theory - Obama won all states with African American population under 9% and over 20% - it;s that middle ground where he has issues)
4: BIG College population
and don't laugh
5: He got game

Obama needs to win both the NC and Indiana primaries on May 6th to give cover to the undecided (aka chickensh%#T) super delegates to give cover to the Reid/Pelosi/Dean group to push the supers and shut this thing down.

We need to help - this has to stop- the MSM has turned on Obama and have fallen for the fighter/populist Clinton new baloney -- Hillary as the new champion of the people

Listed below are the sites for the Indiana newspapers and blogs:

YOU WILL BE SHOCKED HOW SEN CLINTON HAS SO MUCH LOCAL PRESS AND SEN OBAMA SO LITTLE - we need to even that out

Let our voices be heard - write letters to the editors - write opinions - get the TRUTH out there

They were slow to start but the Clinton machine is in full alert

LET'S NOT FORGET WHO REALLY IS THE UNDERDOG IN THIS FIGHT

Obama will not get into the mud - it just is not who he is or who he wants to be-- BUT WE CAN

Obama -08 (otherwise we are looking at McCain 08 - we all know how badly the RNC wants Hillary)

PLEASE HELP!

EPISODE 1: The Never Ending Election

Sen Clinton: [after gaining less than the double digit lead needed to "win" over support following the lastest Primary results, and losing her composure, and calling out to God, in front of the shivering undeclared superdelegates - and on national television - the Daughter, the EX-President,the Governor and the Senator from NY enter the State Judgement Chamber... and the OPPONENT enters - He is told to sit and discovers that he has been replaced by the SENATOR from New York] Stay where you are. No further. You have been removed from this election; YOU CAN'T BE ELECTED - I WILL BE ELECTED the MSM have declared you OBSOLETE. I have the popular vote! I have the most votes of anyone who ever ran for any office in the universe. YOU ARE OBSOLETE! I am now you -- I MUST RULE!
Sen Obama: ...Obsolete? You are declaring yourself the winner of the popular vote by counting the votes from Outer Mongolia? You are not counting any of the popular votes from any Caucus States. You are giving me zero popular votes in Michigan and counting all of your votes.
In what planet do you have a lead in the popular vote?
Sen Clinton: [like a robot] You have disgraced the State before the masses. You have proven yourself a hypocrite, and a traitor to the ideals of the State; you have declared yourself an ELITIST, as such, no function for the masses. You are OBSOLETE. (chants of "Yes We Can" rise in the background"
Sen Obama: But I'm not! I'm NOT obsolete! Hey that's my slogan - why are your supporters chanting that?
Clinton: YOU ARE OBSOLETE!  (the voices rise)
Some bald man screams out in the backround "and you are a Judas too!"
Sen Obama: [becoming agitated] You're making a mistake! *I'm not obsolete!* I BELIEVE in the State! I WORK for the State! I help give the State STRENGTH!
I Believe in the people! I work for the People! I tell the people the truth! How can you call ME obsolete? HOW CAN YOU?
Clinton: YOU ARE OBSOLETE...!
I AM THE ONE! You have made this election unholy - you have made it about race - you have made it about your own personal ambition - you are not one of the people
I AM OF THE PEOPLE!
[dozens of shouting Clintonistas pounce on the Opponent and tear him to shreads]

A fable? Most assuredly. But who's to say at some distant moment there might not be a
leader with a name that isn't Clinton or Bush - a media who lets people think - an assembly line producing a gentle product in the form of a grandmother whose stock in trade is love? Fable, sure—but who's to say?

Hillary Clinton: D- New PORK

The Queen of Pork
Nobody doles out taxpayer money like Hillary Clinton — or rakes in as much campaign cash from the companies she does favors for

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/20306341/the_queen_of_pork/print

One missing piece of info from this article - Magic Johnson is on the Board of the Abyssian Church Project - secured his financial future--aka Clinton surrogate

Why can't the MSM focus on the stuff that matters?

The race is about race

To put it bluntly:
"lets call a spade a spade"

The race is all about race.

When Sen Hillary Clinton secretly tells super delegates that Sen Obama cannot win - what is the implied tought is "America will never vote for a black man".

That's what she is really saying.
And what Bill Clinton has been saying since New Hampshire.

When James Carvllle says Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with Alabama inbetween - the implication is "a black man cannot win Pennsylvania"

Obama is an elitist?
He is an uppity - blank - looking down at us--

All this patriotism hooey -- it's about Obama being a black man.

Reverend Wright?
That was more about the visual of an angry black man in a dashiki than anything else.

Michelle Obama?
She has a chip on her shoulder - aka - black woman who benefitted from affirmative action.

White latte liberals?
We are assauging our "guilt" by voting for a black man.

The woman with the flag pin question on the ABC debate?
Her real question - if you read about her truly sad sad life story is - why would anyone vote for a black man?

The MSM?
They did give Obama a lit of a pass initially but that was more because they never thought he would get this far in the nominating process -- so now they are trying to make up for it.

Let's look at the constituency's Obama is having "difficulty" with --
Older White Woman - think Obama's grandmother (or my mother for that matter)
Jewish Voters - there goes my mother again
Uneducated Whites
Whites earning under $50.0 a year

Black is the new "fear card"

This is not a case of inherent prejudice or bigotry. It is, as Sen Obama said in Philadelphia weeks ago, a case of people being "static".

These groups through the sum total of their lives have not - moved on.

The only color blind person in all this is Barack Obama himself.

Let's hope more people have their eyes open -than closed as we move forward.

But let't not kid ourselves.

This race is about race........

The DECLINE OF THE DEMOCRATS: it's not elitist - it's timidity

This morning;s HuffPo has an article by Miles Mogulescu asking where are this country's democratic leaders - whether they did or did not endorse either candidate--

Where are they leaving Barack Obama - with only Bob Casey speaking up - as the Republican Party - which includes the Clinton campaign - formulate and plant their Fall election strategy of "Obama the Elitist"

Miles writes:
"It's not a matter of whether a Democratic leader has endorsed Obama, Clinton, or is still officially neutral. The son of an absent father and a single mother--a man who, despite massive student loans, graduated from one Ivy League college to take a job for $8,000 a year helping unemployed steelworkers in Chicago; who chose to go from Harvard Law Review, not to a Wall Street law firm where he could soon earn millions advising corporation on how to offshore jobs and avoid taxes, but to a small civil rights firm in Chicago; who has devoted his entire adult life to helping the underdog--stands accused by the wealthy and powerful of elitism while leading Democrats stand silently by."

This sums up - for me - why the democrats could possibly, even following eight years of the worst US Presidency ever- int he history of the world - could possibly lose this November.

As Sen and former Pres Clinton have demonstrated their naked ambition supercedes their Party loyalty - where is everyone else?

As Sen Clinton disparages Al Gore and John Kerry on the (aka LACK of) Compassion Forum -

As Sen Clinton behaves in a primary in a way that is disgraceful to her opponent and her own party

As Sen Clinton does everything she can to anger the voters of Florida and Michigan in her own party -

It's enough--
It's there anyone in the democratic party who can be a leader?

If not - maybe they/we deserve to lose
After all this is the country that re-elected George W Bush in 2004.

You get the leadership you deserve.

NOW add your candidate to
NAME THAT ELITIST!!

What's the Matter with America?

Thomas Frank's great book "What's the Matter with Kansas" basically asked why people in many states of our great country, and particularly small town America, continually vote against their own self interests when electing representation.

This is essentially what Barack Obama was saying - and he was right.

Why do people continually vote for elected officials who do not help them? Who add to their bitterness and frustration?

And one very believable answer is that their is a block of the electorate who allow social issues and religious belief to trump good common sense on occasion.

Believing in God is not mutally exclusive to voting for someone who can improve our lives.

Last time we looked; this country did have a separation of church and state. The blurring of this started long ago but after 9/11 we were all looking for reasons "why" and church and synagogie attendence rose to record levels.

It is fact that in hard times people turn to their spiritual lives to help understand/explain why/how life is as it is.

The fact that sometimes there just is no reason for unfortunate events, is just not good enough for some people.

What Sen Obama did was tell the truth. And after all the lies we have been told by our elected officials; we can only hope that people voting in Pennsylvania and the other nine remaining primary states look in the mirror and truly understand they should vote in the best interest of their lives, the lives of their children and the lives of their fellow citizens.

While Sen Clinton's campaign left a litany of much more disturbing issues this week that truly cast doubt on her ability to run a campaign much less a country, than Sen Obama's words could ever infer, the Obama campaign chose the high road. No one in the Obama campaign is talking about Bill Clinton's truly insane speeches this week (if my husband ever said I was old and should be excused for forgeting things - that would be it!), Bill Clinton's being paid over $800,000 by an orgaization supporting the Columbian Free Trade Agreement, Mark Penn and so much more --

The Obama campaign lets voters make up their own minds.
Bill and Hillary Clinton think they can tell YOU what to think.

So now, under the tutelage of Sen. Clinton and McCain, the MSM is trying their best to portray Sen Barack Obama - a man raised by a single white woman in the early 60's, an absentee black father, without means who rose through his own sheer brillance to where he is today - as an elitist.

The contrast to this "elitism"?

On the left we have: "the "middle class" champion who went to Wellesley and Yale Law, lived in a Governor's Mansion since the early 80's and then the White House in the 90's and has been in a Georgetown townhouse and a manison in Chappaqua NY since becoming a US Senator and filed income tax for $109 million dollars for the past seven years.

On the right we have: the "my friends" champion who is the son and grandson of Admirals. Who is married to one of the wealthiest women in the Southwest United States, who supports making the Bush tax cuts for the rich permanent and who has yet to make public either his tax returns for the past few years, or his health records.

If this is the prism on the left and right - who frame Sen Obama as an "elitist" - we run the risk of getting what we deserve next November.

MLK and You Tube: What may not have happened

Barack Obama, is speaking in Fort Wayne, Indiana today, where Bobby Kennedy broke the news of Martin Luther King's assassination in April 1968 and arguably saved many lives by quelling the riots that were sure to begin that night --

Instead of going to Memphis like Hillary Clinton and John McCain to pander and make good on poor past choices -- Barack Obama was in Indiana.

Some of what he said:
"We have a poltics that is too small for the challenges we face"
"We have to stop feeding the forces of division and distraction and stop us from solving our problems"
"While we each have a different past - we all hope we have the same future.
We have common hopes:
modest dreams: and
a search for human diginty"

As MLK Jr said:
"The arc of the moral univesre is long but it bends toward justice"

Obama took that mantle today and continued:
"But it cannot bend on its own - we need to bend it:
to organize:
to mobilize:
to march:
to vote:
to be active
and
to care:
to do our part to bend that arc
toward justice,
toward opportunity,
toward prosperity

and do it together"

To keep faith with Dr King but make real the word of Amos - "let justice roll down like water,
and righteousnes as a mightly stream"
---
and so we come to today.
And Rev Wright and what is attempted to be a "lynching" by association of Sen Barack Obama.

As I have sadly watched Juan Williams, who has an article in the WSJ today, and many like him, go from someone who understood and appreciated Sen Obama's candidacy to an Obama basher - it begs the question why?

And that is not answered in the false conclusions drawn in that article, which Wiliiams asked "what would Jesus do?"
and Williams concludes, "Jesus would have walked out of the church".

As a student of history surely Juan Williams knows that MLK Jr made some very incendiary speeches in his day - even calling the United States the worst war profiteer in the world - and much more Had YouTube existed in 1968 and MLK Jr's worst words been played on an "endless loop" on a then non-exitent internet, we, as a nation, may not have been celebrating the pride and dignity of this great man.

People are flawed - no one agrees -out of context - to the inflammatory remarks we keep seeing from Rev Wright

Personally, as a white, jewish, over 50 woman voter who likes to get educated about who I am voting for; I have learned that Rev Wright gave up his student deferment and enlisted in the army during Viet Nam and was a Marine. If that type of personal sacrifice doesn't make a man a patriot - what does?

Did Mr Juan Williams serve in the military?

For the Juan Williams' of the world, who arguably owe at least some of their success to the legacy of Dr. King - to draw the argument "what would Jesus do" and come to the conclusion as stated here is laughable

Let me suggest: Mr Williams and others; stop watching Fox News, and look at other sermons Rev Wright gave in their entireity which are readily available on the web and then go back and reread Dr King's words especially in his early, brave opposition to the Viet Nam way -- Rev Wright - who I am not defending - clearly through non violence, in his own way, tried and by all accounts, Rev. Wright right succeeded, in getting young black men to strive for a better life, for black families to stay together and generally was devoted to improving the quality of like for his parishioners.

Maybe Juan Williams can use his connections at FOX and through the various newspapers to study and learn more about Rev Wright - get over his false "horror" at five or six stupid sentences - and do what Jesus would likely do

That would be to look at the total of the man and see clearly the good of the sum total of the life of the man far outweighing the bad -- and look beyond a few offensive sentences to the sum total of a life dedicated to helping others.

You can disagree with the method - but you cannot disagree with the results. And on the 40th anniversary of MLK Jr's death - a dark day for this nation -we should all be grateful that in the 1960's when the civil rights movement did and said what they had to to make progress , against much hatred and opposition in the country - that there was no Fox News, no You Tube and no Internet

Arguably - we may not be where we are today and celebrating the life of this great man - if there had been

Let's not lose our chance to move forward and develop a new and living history; which I strongly believe Sen Barack Obama will inspire and lead.

All Superdelegates are NOT created equal

RISE UP - THE NOMINATION OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS IN THE HANDS OF CRONIES !

There  are two separate and distinct groups (plus formerly elected officials and DNC chairs) of Super Delegates -- and who they are and how they vote could determine who the next Democratic candidate for President is IF the Clinton campaign has its way.

The media had not clarified this for the public even though the split is easy to explain

Elected Officials vs Cronies
(plus DLC: Demorcratic Party Leaders: former Pres, elected officials etc)

BOTTOM LINE:
Sen Obama is ahead in the super delegate ELECTED officials as of today -- but you would not know that from how the news is reported.

Sen Clinton is ahead in the super delegate DPL (Pres Clinton, Terry McAuliffe etc)
Sen Clinton is ahead in "cronies"

AND THAT'S THE RUB.

So unless we want to allow an "inside job" - spread the word and make the distinction --

BECAUSE  if you look below at the numbers: the LARGEST undecided block of super delegates - the people who Sen Clinton wants to decide this nomination are democratic party "cronies".

The vast majority of these people gained their "superdelegate" status when Pres Clinton was in office and Terry McAuliffe was the DNC Chair.

NO WONDER HAROLD ICKES WANTS THESE PEOPLE CALLED "AUTOMATIC" DELEGATES!

So here is a handy dandy guide to Super Delegate 101:
TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

WHO IS GOING TO DECIDE THE NEXT DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE FOR PRESIDENT?

How to Solve a Problem like (Jere) Miah? (revised)

The first two lines of the "Maria Song" from the SOUND of MUSIC are:

"How do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?"

There are two ways to react to an issue that is perceived as a problem.

One is with thought and understanding.
The other is with fear and demonization.

These are the simplistic two points of view of the remaining campaigns for the democratic Presidential nomination this year.

This is a philosophical difference. It is not about agreement or disagreement with an issue. It is about how issues are approached and responded to.

One campaign is seasoned, battle tested and used to reacting in a "take no prisoners" style that has been successful for them. They have an insular "we"/"they" philosophy.

The other campaign is open to listen to ideas. A philosophy that people can "disagree without being disagreeable".

One campaign cites its ability to "fight" as a virtue, a reason to be supported.

One campaign wants to move beyond the partisan bickering and rancor of the past.

These world views could be seen as the core of the support for Senators Clinton and Obama.

Senator Clinton's core supporters are older white women and less formally educated people who make under $50.0 annually. Two constituencys who harbor a degree of anger and resentment for a variety of reasons - some valid and some institutionalized. People who are static--

Senator Obama's core supporters are young people who were turned off by government, african americans and the "starbucks:" crowd. Constituency's with a desire for hope and change. People who want to move beyond--

In a word:
Pessimism vs Optimism

And this is the prism within the candidates, their campaigns, their supporters and their reactions to issues could easily be viewed.

In the YOUTUBE universe reinforced by 24/7 cable news networks people of both groups are besieged with visual stimulation. The same way people react to an IQ test when flashcards are posted to have an instantaneous reaction - this is how the networks, and the campaigns, view trends in the electorate.

The Jeremiah Wright issue is now threatening the candidacy of Sen Barack Obama. Not necessarily through the electorate so much as through the media.

As a Jewish woman over 50, I have all I can do to contain my laughter listening to Pat Buchanan on MSNBC and his outrage at what he calls "hate speech" or "hate for our country".

I used to try and watch FOX news every now and then to see another point of view to my own progressive ideas. Now, I cannot even make it through five minutes of Sean Hannity without feeling physically ill. Not for the reasons you may think, but because it is watching a predator. It is seeing in action someone who, for money and money alone. is willing to lie, bersmeech, distort words and issues to serve his own selfish purposes. And his prey is the viewing public.

Does anyone truly think Barack Obama, a uniquely American story, is not a patriot? That he does not love his country?

"No, I don't think Obama agrees with Wright" Hannity says, this is about Obama associating with a "liar" and a "fraud" like Rev Wright.

"No, I don't think Barack shares those views", Buchanan says, but "how could Barack sit in church week after week and let his wife and children hear than hate speech".

In other words "How do you old a moonbeam in your hand?"

These people simply cannot understand someone who is open to hear all points of view and still have their own core in tact.

These people simply cannot allow that an "endless" loop of five-ten minutes edited from thousands of hours of sermons may not accurately portray a lifetime of service. They see Wright - is flamboyance - his clothes - his intonation and that's enough --

It is fear

The simple truth is Barack Obama scares these people.
When Obama says he is a "hopemonger" - he threatens the franchise of "hatemongers" everywhere.

So for different reasons, there are disparate groups trying to stop the Obama movement.

So while Hannity, O'Reilly and Buchanan may not be able to help themselves - think of is as a career move -- what about the Clinton campaign?

Pres and Sen Clinton have done everything to fan the flames of divisiveness in this election. They have not only showed their selfishness and blind ambition, they have showed their contempt for the democratic party by holding it hostage as their own personal franchise.

And the african american community in particular is rightfully offended by the "ownership" the Clinton frnachise felt they were entitled to.

The Hillary Clinton campaign has been retooled in late February, following the insertion of Maggie Williams as campaign manager, to a Rovian, win at all costs, yes "take no prisoners" campaign.

Admittedly, their only hope to win the democratic nomination is to destroy Sen. Obama. And that is what they are doing.

Sen Clinton has unfortunately shown her lack of leadership by not speaking out on the Jeremiah Wright issue. And Bill Clinton who does understand black churches and some of the inflammatory rhetoric he heard as a poor white southern boy, has chosen to be the lead attack dog on this.

Bill Clinton uses his own considerable rhetorical gifts and charm to get his points across - clearly - albeit subtly.

What the Clinton campaign is saying is "we agree" Obama can't be trusted-- look who he hangs aroung with -- so we are staying in the race as the democrat "insurance policy". Harold Ickes, Clintonista and mastermind of the super delegate DNC policy, gets across his point that - this is why super delegates were created -- to save the party from itself.

What they miss in all this - is that for the Clinton's to succeed, they have to pull the party from the people.

How much more effective would the Clintons be if Bill Clinton stood up and said- "Rev Wright was at the WH Prayer Breakfast in 1998. He has used inflammatory rheoritic- some of which I profoundly disagree with - to grow his congregation to over 8,000 people and help many poor and uneducated african americans understand their own responsibility to famliy and country"

How much more effective if Hillary Clinton had said "no" -- that's it -- just "no"; when Steve Kroft asked her on "60 Minutes" if she thought Obama is a muslim?

They can't help themselves.

We can go into explanations that Rev Wright was in fact quoting a Reagan administration ambassador, who in turn was quoting Malcolm X when he gave the "chickens coming home to roost" sermon?

We can list the poisonous inflammatory rheotiric of white preachers from Falwell to Hagee -- from Robertson to Parlsey --

We can read speeches from Martin Luther King, Jr decrying the Viet Nam war in far more "hateful" words to the US Government --

But what we cannot do is deal with fear

Institutionalized
Ingrained
Visual Fear

Because even though Jeremiah Wright has had videos of his sermons for years and thousands of people have seen him in person and on tape - seeing an "angry black man" in a dashiki has taken over all the hope and reason in many good people.

If we lose the moonbeam - the fault is ours.

The Sound of Music Soundtrack Lyrics

the Nuns - Maria Lyrics

She climbs a tree and scrapes her knee
Her dress has got a tear
She waltzes on her way to Mass
And whistles on the stair
And underneath her wimple
She has curlers in her hair
I even heard her singing in the abbey

She's always late for chapel
But her penitence is real
She's always late for everything
Except for every meal
I hate to have to say it
But I very firmly feel
Maria's not an asset to the abbey

I'd like to say a word in her behalf
Maria makes me laugh

How do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?
How do you find a word that means Maria?
A flibbertijibbet! A will-o'-the wisp! A clown!

Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her
Many a thing she ought to understand
But how do you make her stay
And listen to all you say
How do you keep a wave upon the sand

Oh, how do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?

When I'm with her I'm confused
Out of focus and bemused
And I never know exactly where I am
Unpredictable as weather
She's as flighty as a feather
She's a darling! She's a demon! She's a lamb!

She'd outpester any pest
Drive a hornet from its nest
She could throw a whirling dervish out of whirl
She is gentle! She is wild!
She's a riddle! She's a child!
She's a headache! She's an angel!
She's a girl!

How do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?
How do you find a word that means Maria?
A flibbertijibbet! A will-o'-the wisp! A clown!

Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her
Many a thing she ought to understand
But how do you make her stay
And listen to all you say
How do you keep a wave upon the sand

Oh, how do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?
