You know, the interesting thing about all this .... it seems to be the white supporters of Obama who are the most outraged about the (most likely) racist overtones to Wilson's disrespect.
Clarence Page, of Chicago Tribune, observed this on MSNBC recently, saying that it was his white friends who were the ones getting the most exercised and furious ..... while all he could think was "Welcome to my world."
In a roundabout way, Rep. Wilson may have provided us with one heck of a "teaching moment." When he made OUR president the target of a (likely) racial attack, he hit ALL of us ... including those, like me, who may have despised racism but were never before on the receiving end, a direct victim. Instructive, isn't it?

I told my wife during the primaries that if Obama was elected president, we'd see a nasty undercurrent of racism rise to the top. It's been coming and it's becoming more visible. I really hate to see it peak with an assassination. If that happens I'm going to wear a t-shirt with his face prominently located as large as I can get it, because it's going to get ugly. I'm also going to become far more activist than I am.
The irony is these white, racist, homophobes, don't realize they are in slavery to big money and bigots.

A hidden slavery, indeed. And you couldn't hide it from people LESS likely to comprehend it.
Actually, slavery had its benefits, compared to the modern slave-wage earner: At least the Massa had a direct interest in health care for them.
I'm of the opinion that the CIA and spooks who REALLY run the country have no real interest in assassinating Obama. They probably showed him the same Bill Hicks video they showed to Clinton, just in case he had any REAL revolutionary ideas.
