This says it all

The only African American Chairman to hold that position for the Republican National Committee is now on a budgetary leash.

Gotta watch those black folks. They'll spend all your money before you can blink. Just like those welfare queens driving Cadillacs to the disability office to pick up their checks. He can't help it. It's in his genes.

Anyone surprised? As I said before: Michael Steele is the scapegoat, and they knew perfectly well what they were doing when they picked him for the job. It'll feel oh-so-satisfying to the leaders of the Republican party to heap the abuse on the head of an incompetent Negro.

Any day now.

Another dose of the extra-stupid GOP talk these days

"People say the right has taken over the Republican Party - but no one can say what we've done. We've been closeted for the last eight years; it's time for the right to come out of the closet."

-- Michael Reagan

I'm blogging out by the pond--finally. 70 degrees, sunny with a breeze. Time to feed the koi.

Obama goes after offshore corporate tax havens; Dow up 215 points; coincidence?

The Dow is up 215 points today? Wow.

I've been looking at this headline all day now. From this morning's news.

Coincidence? Really?

I think not.

"At that time..."

They don't call it the Memory Hole for nothing.

"At that time, the Administration claimed that Graner was the mastermind of the abuse represented in the photographs, and that they showed nothing more than the depravity of a group of rogue soldiers who had fallen under his sway. Yet it became almost immediately apparent--and has been confirmed repeatedly in the years since, most recently with President Obama's decision to release four Bush Administration memorandums seeking to establish a legal justification for the use of torture--that the Abu Ghraib photographs showed not individuals run amok but American policy in action."

--Philip Gourevitch, The New Yorker, May 11, 2009

They lied when the photos first came out. They lied when the John Yoo Torture Memos were leaked. They lied when Obama released the Bush Torture Memos.

They lied when they said that actionable intelligence was gained from torture. They lied when they said that torture works. They lied when they said there was indisputable evidence that al Qaeda and Saddam worked together to mastermind 9-11.

They lied when they said it was nothing more than college pranks. They lied when they said waterboarding produced no permanent damaging effects. They lied when they said they weren't breaking the laws or treaties of the United States of America. They lied when they said they weren't torturing.

They lied when they said they were protecting us. And that's why I call them, very specifically, choosing my words very carefully rather than off the cuff, that's why I call them goddamned fucking liars.

Because if you believe in God, if you believe in justice, if you believe in consequences for your actions, if you believe in karma, if you believe in anything at all, you know these people are damned by God and lie as easily as they breathe. And that they WOULD go on fucking all of us as long as they could get away with it.
