Anyone who rejects cuts in the US military budget is clearly insane

The US military budget will be used to bankrupt our nation. Either that, or it will be used to pay for weapons that will be used to rob whomever the trillions were borrowed from. This country's biggest problem is the Pentagon, and that's been the case ever since Eisenhower made the point almost fifty years ago.

Anyone who really thinks that Obama will take away Americans' guns is clearly insane.

Anyone who really thinks that Muslims could ever possibly 'destroy' this country, literally or figuratively, is clearly insane.

Anyone who really thinks our government's policies should reflect the last is clearly insane.

Anyone who really thinks Obama would install Sharia law in America is clearly insane.

Anyone who believes ten percent (a certain ten percent, granted) of what is flogged about on FOX News, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter's columns and books, or Bill Kristol's rants is clearly insane.

Clearly. So: Either FOX News, et al, is addressing the clinically insane, or they don't mean 90% of what they say. Hmm.

This is a meme that needs to be repeated until it sticks. Republicans are the party of loons. Fox is the network for loons. Loons are unpatriotic and dangerous and want America to fail.

I could not agree with you more.

Terrific post. May I offer one slight modification?

It's obvious FOX News, et al, is not only addressing the clinically insane but their gibberish is that of the clinically (and perhaps criminally?) insane!

Rec'd and appreciated.

You may offer it, but here's a reminder from just today that what FOX News does is not really illegal.

Here's another one, from my own memory bank:

A FOX News producer in Florida (Tallahassee, I think) sued the station or the network because his bosses ordered him to run a story that was politically charged and that they KNEW was false.

The judge's ruling? FOX News could broadcast any content they liked, even if they KNEW it wasn't true.

So, CRIMINALLY insane? Not so much. But there's no denying the fact that every corporate news source that I'm familiar with is riven with conflicts of interest. Let's just give thanks that Al Gore invented the Internets tubes, and just leave it at that.

'Criminally' term was used per to incite to riot, and/or commit acts of violence and/or create severe brain damage with no regard for idiot's (who listen to their crap because they lack intelligence) well-being.

user-pic

Ah! Thanks for making that clearer.

I'll bet FOX News would win THAT court case, too. I'm pessimistic when it comes to FOX News facing any sort of justice in this world. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Isn't our defense spending larger than that of the rest of the world put together? Or something? I've heard this a lot but dunno if it's true.

Nonetheless, just spending more and more on "defending" ourselves isn't gonna make us safer. If it did, why are the Taliban al-Qaeda as strong, if not stronger than they were before 9/11?

user-pic

It's true. American defense budget is more than the rest of the world's combined. It's actually a form of economic stimulus.

Actually our biggest problem is the Federal Reserve, but then again that is often the primary funding source for the Pentagon, so it's all ultimately the same thing.

By the way, glad that you said "military" rather than "defense." I'm of the same opinion as Harry Browne: we spend far too little on national defense, but we spend way too much on national offense.

I already made it clear to you in my blog that I do not believe that Fox believes this crap. Fox wants to make money and spread propaganda.

The problem is that a sizable number of people eat this stuff up. So Fox makes money selling them what they want.

user-pic

Sorry, dick, I guess I don't read your blog regularly enough. But you are correct. It's all about the Benjamins with FOX News.

Then again...the winds of politics have changed, but they haven't. I've read reports that Rupert Murdoch supported Hillary in the primaries, and that he was 'outraged' about the cartoon with the shot chimp. You might even conclude that he's a reasonable person.

I wouldn't. It's too hard to guess if these asshats are putting on a show, or really believe the lies they spew. I'm not going to try. But anyone can see the damage they've caused to this nation.

And then you have people on TV who argue that North Korea might lob a missile over the USA and set off a high atmosphere EMP blast knocking out 2/3 of the power grid --- and they mean this seriously and as a reason to bomb NK to prevent the recent missile test.

And this was not seen on Fox, but I believe on MSNBC.

user-pic

Yeah, but the DOD sure does make us credit worthy. Just saying.

user-pic

We got all the guns.

Having a conscience can be a problem. But when the U.S., under Bush, kills with abandon, when it invades countries preemptively, when it embraces torture, that country is just setting itself up for a major fall.

I'd rather my country avoided that fall, literally and figuratively.
