Week of March 11, 2007 - March 17, 2007

It's almost as if this administration is bound and determined

to feed the conspiracy theories:

9/11 Mastermind Confesses in Guantanamo

By LOLITA C. BALDOR, A.P., March 14

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, confessed to that attack and a string of others during a military hearing at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a transcript released Wednesday by the Pentagon....

So disheartening. No public trial, no chance of anything near closure. Ever.

Well, I always thought of French culture

as prejudiced in favor of sex outside of marriage:

France: High Court Voids First Gay Marriage

By The Associated Press, March 14:

The Court of Cassation, France’s highest appeals court, rejected as unlawful the first marriage by a gay couple in France and annulled the men’s union.... In the latest decision, the court ruled that “under French law, marriage is a union between a man and a woman.”

so that makes a mean wicked sort of sense.
