Thanks, Josh, Greg, Eric, all...

...who have provided us with this place to come and get information, vent our spleens, share the little victories and The Big One, and revel in the knowledge that the power to effect change that we never had via the mainstream media is now available to us by this and other excellent netroots sites.

You all have done yeoman service, and I want you to know I appreciate it tremendously. And I know I'm not alone.

You get "attaboys" for every electoral vote won last night. As Ben Bradlee says to Woodward and Bernstein in the film version of "All The President's Men":

You guys are probably pretty tired, right? Well, you should be. Go on home, get a nice hot bath. Rest up... 15 minutes. Then get your asses back in gear. We're under a lot of pressure, you know, and you put us there. Nothing's riding on this except the, uh, first amendment to the Constitution, freedom of the press, and maybe the future of the country.

Kickass Kerry

I have to admit I was stunned at how on fire John Kerry was tonight. Where was this John Kerry in 2004?

As he took the stage I thought, "Oh, good luck, Senator. You just got some lousy position in the evening's agenda." Big Dawg is a tough act to follow anytime, but tonight he was superb. So I could hear the group yawn as Kerry began.

And then he pulled out the two-by-four.

"Let me tell you, before he ever debates Barack Obama, John McCain should finish the debate with himself,"

“President Obama and Vice President Biden will shut down Guantanamo, respect the Constitution and make clear once and for all the United States of America does not torture, not now, not ever.”

“Never in modern history has an administration squandered American power so recklessly. Never has strategy been so replaced by ideology. Never has extremism so crowded out common sense and fundamental American values. Never has short-term partisan politics so depleted the strength of America’s bipartisan foreign policy.”

"Candidate McCain now supports the wartime tax cuts that Senator McCain once denounced as immoral. Candidate McCain criticizes Senator McCain's own climate change bill. Candidate McCain says he would now vote against the immigration bill that Senator McCain wrote. Are you kidding? Talk about being for it before you're against it."

"How insulting to suggest that those who question the mission, question the troops. How pathetic to suggest that those who question a failed policy doubt America itself."

...and my personal favorite, since I'm a single mother of a teenage boy I don't want McCain drafting:

"How desperate to tell the son of a single mother who chose community service over money and privilege that he doesn't put America first."

Johnny, we hardly knew ye. But tonight, you did good. Real good. Thanks!

I feel a draft

Scoff at your own risk. Here we go again with a new Cold War looming, and McDolt is now on record for the draft.

This is starting to rattle and hum around the tubes. One wonders whether the MSM will pick it up, however. Well yeah, maybe Olbermann. One can pray.

My hope is that if, goddess forbid, this megalomaniac prevails in November, so do enough Dems with sufficient testicular fortitude to grind his ass into the ground.
