GOP GA Congressman Paul Broun Introduces Resolution to Declare 2010 as Year of the Bible

Paul Broun apparently thinks that introducing a resolution to make 2010 the "Year of the Bible" is the kind of legislating the American public needs to fix its multiple crises?  God forbid the 'fool' write a real piece of law that would create a job, save a home, insure a kid, stop a war...

Given that the US is in the midst of the worst economic crisis since the 1930s, one would think Paul Broun would be spending his time drafting serious legislation.  Instead, below is a sampling of the Congressman's latest 'legislative prowess:'

H.Con.Res.121 Encouraging the President to designate 2010 as "The National Year of the Bible"
H.J.Res.50 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relating to marriage
H.Res.386 Commending the University of Georgia Gymnastics Team for winning the 2009 NCAA National Championship
H.R.1621 Pledge Language is English Declaration and Government Endorsement Act of 2009
H.R.227 Sanctity of Human Life Act

Georgians and the citizens of the US need serious representation in serious times.  Kick Broun to the curb come November 2010.  If Broun wants to practice his brand of bible-thumping by legislative 'ministering' to the public, let him get his own damn pulpit OUTSIDE the halls of Congress.

Oh, Stinkypants Broun... He always reminds me of Jeremiah 4:19:

"My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war." (KJV--because that's the translation that makes it sound the most like Jeremiah has gas.)

THis is the same guy who is against hand holding, dancing and kissing in any public forum. He's also probably the one with a few hooded midgets tied up in his dungeon at home for his own pleasure.

It's always the ones that try to be so CHristian or pious that are the sickets SOB's we have.

Maybe Larry Craig and this guy can work long and hard on some back-breaking legislative issues.

The Year of the Bible for godssake?

Why not a Year of How Come That Idiot's Rich and I'm Not?, which came in at number 32 in Amazon's popular books of 2008? At least it has a distinctly American air about it.

the way I see it he has a right to propose the amendment, he is not asking anybody to read the bible, he wants to honor a book that shaped so much of what our nation is today, maybe if people stop looking at it as a religious symbol and see it as a book of historical value, then we can all decide to honor it for what it is. Just because we do not like something does not mean that as inteligent people we are not able to recognize its value no matter what it is.
I am a science's teacher, not an advocate for religion even if I have my believes, but I also believe very strongly in respecting others, their believes, some people have statues of budda or of some saint, if that makes them feel good I am happy for them, even if I do not share their believes, it might be a cultural issue and who are we to criticize and tell them they are wrong. we would be a better nation if we repected others believes and prictices and if we find ourselves at a place where they decide they want to have a prayer for the fallen soldiers or any reason and we do not want to do it for whatever reason, we should respect the fact that they have as much right to do that as we not to do it. out of respect lets vow our heads and keep a moment of silent while they complete their task, and we will have a more peaceful world. lets lieve that legacy to our children.
