Women: A Note from Dr. Maya Angelou

by Dr. Maya Angelou

3/31/2008
11:45:30 AM

This entry is part of a series in celebration of Women's History Month.

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

This is not the first time you have seen Hillary Clinton seemingly at her
wits end, but she has always risen, always risen, much to the dismay of her
adversaries and the delight of her friends.

Hillary Clinton will not give up on you and all she asks of you is that you
do not give up on her.

There is a world of difference between being a woman and being an old
female. If you’re born a girl, grow up, and live long enough, you can become an
old female. But, to become a woman is a serious matter. A woman takes
responsibility for the time she takes up and the space she occupies.

Hillary Clinton is a woman. She has been there and done that and has still
risen. She is in this race for the long haul. She intends to make a difference
in our country.

She is the prayer of every woman and man who long for fair play, healthy
families, good schools, and a balanced economy.

She declares she wants to see more smiles in the families, more courtesies
between men and women, more honesty in the marketplace. Hillary Clinton intends
to help our country to what it can become.

She means to rise.

She means to help our country rise. Don’t give up on her, ever.

In fact, if you help her to rise, you will rise with her and help her make
this country a wonderful, wonderful place where every man and every woman can
live freely without sanctimonious piety, without crippling fear.

Rise Hillary.

Rise.

http://blog.hillaryclinton.com/blog/main/2008/03/31/154530#view_comments

Being new to this blogging thing, but not new to caring
about where our country is moving, I found TPM to be an awesome site to follow
blow by blow political action and news.

And only recently did I try my hand and fingers at blogging-ever..

So thanks Josh and Mr Sargent for the chance to experience this.

My goal in my illustrious (what two weeks?) career as a blogger was
simple: Prevent a political tragedy masquerading as a political
renaissance, from overwhelming the hopes and efforts of so many of my like
minded political friends.

But since blogging is more than just throwing words around
at the local bucks, I don’t have the time to make this a higher priority than
it needs be.

Besides, there are so many others who can say and support my
points better than myself.

In my lack of experience in the blogosphere, I suspect
suggesting this final site might be a Hatfield McCoy thing, but it doesn’t
matter, I don’t think most Obama supporters on this TPM site/blog have the guts or
intellectual honesty to really listen to the honest criticism of their appointed
king.

Including Josh.

But if you do, check this out: http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/3/24/213029/144

And all the best- see you on the other side of November.

Just finished reading some interesting first hand comments:

"If Barack gets past the primary," said the Rev.
Jeremiah Wright to the New York Times in April of last year, "he might
have to publicly distance himself from me. I said it to Barack personally, and
he said yeah, that might have to happen."

“It's been more than a month since I began warning Sen.
Barack Obama that he would become answerable for his revolting choice of a family priest.
But never mind that; the astonishing thing is that it's at least 11 months since he himself has known precisely the
same thing.”

“Pause just for a moment, if only to admire the sheer
calculating self-confidence of this. Sen. Obama has long known perfectly well,
in other words, that he'd one day have to put some daylight between himself and
a bigmouth Farrakhan fan.”

http://www.slate.com/id/2187277/pagenum/all/#page_start

Now I realize that in the blogging world, quoting large
tracts of an author’s words is not technically blogging. But there is no need
to reinvent the wheel, either.

However, it is amazing how this lack of a full and honest
appraisal of this candidate continues and is leading the democratic populace to
a dangerous point of no return.

He has been a politician for his entire career
even when he calculated that he needed to develop some religious or spiritual “street
cred” –Audacity of Hope (as quoted in
above cite)

I heartily concur that:

“This disappointment is only the
first of many that are still to come.” (as cited above)

Josh

I have
enjoyed your blog for a very long time, but I realized recently that the
democrat crowd has already split between the far far left and the rest of us.
When I could no longer find a safe and fair environment to share my hopes and
views in your site, I dramatically cut down by online time with it.

So many
liberal sites have ran off into the nethers believing their own posts so much
that, well, they forget to look back and see which brothers and sisters they
have left behind.

Stop disenfranchising
the Clinton supporters. You do so at your own
peril. Perhaps that is why you received so few responses.

We are the
ones who suffered on the left all during the Clinton and Bush years and
toughing it through, did not need an inspirational speaker, a pied piper to see
us through, but a smart reliable and fully understood candidate.

May the
best man or woman win, but as we all know that does not always happen.

WHO ARE YA KIDDIN’ OBAMA!!!? Trustworthy, Naïve, Poor Instincts – All the qualities of a good Chief Executive?!

All of these are quotes from the Chicago Tribune Story:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/chi-obama-rezkomar15,0,2968927.story

His first big contributor

Asked if he ever thought Rezko would expect something from their relationship, Obama was emphatic: "No.

Obama said voters should view his Rezko dealings as "a mistake in not seeing the potential conflicts of interest." But he added that voters should also "see somebody who is not engaged in any wrongdoing . . . and who they can trust."

Obama said he asked his friend about them. Rezko assured him there was nothing wrong. "My instinct was to believe him," he said.

My Comments:

Either he is sincerely naïve and inexperienced and therefore not qualified to be a good chief executive OR he is just another politician caught trying to triangulate his way out of a mess. Get real. All those years and all that money and he never wanted any thing from you? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaase!

Obama said voters should view his Rezko dealings as "a mistake in
not seeing the potential conflicts of interest." But he added that
voters should also "see somebody who is not engaged in any wrongdoing .
. . and who they can trust."

Obama said he asked his friend about them. Rezko assured him there was nothing wrong. "My instinct was to believe him," he said.

My Comments:

Either he is sincerely naïve and inexperienced and therefore not
qualified to be a good chief executive OR he is just another politician
caught trying to triangulate his way out of a mess. Get real. All those
years and all that money and he never wanted any thing from you?
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaase!

Josh did you happen to catch Whoopi Goldberg today on the view (thursday) She knows Ferraro personally and doesn't think her comment was racist nor is Ferraro racist.

I am glad to see someone speaking some common sense hear- and before you call me mr white racist-
I am white and in a bi racial marriage for over 15 years and have a bi racial son. And I have a graduate degree and we are mid to upper middle class. Shouldn't I be Obama's demographic?

By the way, my wife agrees with this.

I like Obama enough, but he is just not the best qualified for the job of the two of them.
