Election night music mix?
I need some help. I've got a few friends coming over tomorrow night for TV and champagne. I want to burn a CD with a mix of appropriately celebratory songs. So, what should I put on it?
I know a couple of tracks that have to go on. Pride of place goes to a 1920s rendition of "Happy Days Are Here Again" by Jack Hylton. Never goes out of style, and it's more appropriate this election cycle than ever.
Also, for old times' sake and party unity, "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow."
Articleman had a thread of election-fighting songs a few months ago with excellent suggestions. (I'm definitely going to use Goldfrapp, Moby, They Might be Giants, and Heaven 17, and -- from the comments -- Bob Marley and Saul Williams.) And I remember Ad Absurdum suggesting Jesus Jones "Right Here Right Now" back during the primary.
But now that we're closing in on the night itself, I need a few more. A few general celebration/victory songs, as well as pointedly political songs, and even a few title-joke songs (e.g. Fleetwood Mac, "Landslide"; Ray Charles, "Georgia on My Mind"?).
