Wow--it's great that Carlson is grappling with the big issues, but a little distateful to read. Sort of like watching a hungry squirrel try to raid a well-engineered bird feeder.

I prefer to believe that Tucker Carlson agrees with you and me, not the other way 'round ;-)
Gah that site is painful. Does this article actually have a point somewhere? Like page 3? Troll for pageviews much, Tucker?

So... the mob gave us the Iraq War? The economic meltdown? Nuclear weapons proliferation? Industrial pollution? War profiteering? Genocide?
The worst, most murderous atrocities in history, and the decisions that initiated them, weren't cooked up over corner-store domino games, or in PTA meetings. Elites aren't merely annoying... they are inherently ruinous.
To the extent we agree with Tucker Carlson, we desire elite enrollment.

point well taken.
However an argument can be made that "the mob" selected an Elite in 2000 because he acted in a way that supported their world view. They re-elected him in 2004 fully cognizant of what he stood for. (indeed, they may elect another Elite acting like the Everyman again on Nov 4th if McCain the multimillionaire wins).
I think that the electorate should own up to the blame it shares in not doing its job, just as much as they excoriate those they elect for failing at theirs.
Likewise in the financial crisis, there is no denying the elite class's guilt, but that does not absolve the tens of millions of middle class Americans - who gleefully abandoned the more conservative economic values of their earlier generations and spent themselves into a deep hole.
And interestingly, to my knowledge, most genocides of the modern era have been carried out by those who would not justify the Elite label: Amin, the Janjaweed, Hitler, Serbian militias, et alia.
All that said, I fully agree with the statement:
"I don't want someone just like me to be President. I want them to be much much better than I am in every way."
Thanks for your comment.
