This week in the Bay Area we experienced how mass transit can save a region. The Bay Bridge which handles about 280,000 cars a day was out of service for (I believe) 7 days and BART had to run 24hrs for a couple of day. The crowds were crushing. Otherwise it was nearly an hour and a half trip between Oakland and San Francisco; normally the trip only takes 11 to 15 minutes across the bridge the 8 mile span. I just wish the rate for transit would remain reasonable as it is pressed into higher service.

The jobs are in bracing the backbone of the mass transit system in the United States and we get the added benefit of being responsible for the environment. I understand that Portland may have received federal monies to expand there light rail service. I wish cities around the country would see the light on this issue. Driving (traffic) is suffocating their economy and the environment.

Bill Clinton

Those are the two most important words on the blog. Isn't that Clinton country? It is always marginally--that means slightly, a blip on the map-- better to have "local" help with a local campaign?

I really believe that having anyone inside the beltway--especially with this economy and the bank deals- come out to reality and campaign for someone is the kiss of death.

Exhibit A: N.Y-23 Republicans make a mess of it Democrat wins.

Exhibit B: Obama campaigns for Deeds and loses

Exhibit C: Obama campaigns for Corzine and loses

Exhibit D: Clinton campaigns for Newsom doesn't have an impact and Newsom quits.

Exhibit E: Garamendi wins CA-10 all by his lonesome.

So all politics are local? Voters are thinking locally/regionally and not nationally.

Just my guess.

Reading the New York Times article to its conclusion still points out that the C.I.A. was being less than truthful with members of Congress.

Again Pelosi wasn't the only member of Congress confirming that the C.I.A. left out essential information in those briefings.

Come to San Francisco and call her a "bitch" to her face. And then we will know the bitch for sure.

I think I remember John Boehner standing at the dais demanding Pelosi apologize. Although I think she won't do it, she should make him eat each letter of all his disingenous words; including punctuations.
