Week of October 26, 2008 - November 1, 2008

Get out and phone-bank!

I have never been so deeply involved in an election in my life. I spent my afternoon at the San Francisco field office making cell phone calls. My job, along with forty or fifty other people, was to call in troop reinforcements for this weekend. I really wish I had bought a ticket to Ohio so I could be on the ground where the action is taking place.

GOP barks (was W.'s DOJ barks but.....)

GOP W.'s Department of Justice barks but Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner doesn't listen. This is like a heavy weight bout. Ding, ding, ding! It's round six

An American paradox

Yes America, they are talking about us. The world is watching as we get closer to the first Tuesday in November. The world is watching to see if the United States will live up to its incessant claim on the moral high ground in democracy. They want to see If this country and nation really believes in democracy. The same democracy we insist and sometimes force on others. They are watching and wondering if we believe on our own rhetoric. Is it, do as I say not as I do?
