Mr. Glad you and I were engaged in a conversation on
libgirl's post "Just got called a N******lover. Have I arrived?" I linked an op-ed written by Nicholas Kristof,
Racism without Racist and you Mr. Glad wanted me to explain how Mr. Kristof's op-ed applies to this election. Well Mr. Glad, Mr. Kristof and the New York Times isn't the only person and news organization to realize what is going on. As the McCain/Palin ticket wades into shallow end of the swamp of dirty politics many have written about potential of what might happen at the polls on November 4.
Mr. Glad, the
Politico which usually isn't very generous with or to Obama recognizes what I tried to explain to you. Americans, white Americans in particular might say they are for Obama during the campaign but when they cast their vote on November 4, it might not be for Obama because of his skin color.
Mr. Glad you often say you live in a diverse community. I wonder if that makes you know exactly what it is like to be constantly under suspicion just because of the color of your skin? John McCain and his campaign understands that "white working class" Americans in general suspect any person of color. It is the only method the McCain has left to denigrate Obama. People of color always have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that we are loyal. I ask loyal to what? If helping to build this country from the swamps of Virginia up, to fighting in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, and peacefully marching on Washington in 1963 to secure rights promised in the 1860's isn't loyal, I don't what more you and anyone else wants?
