An apology to Rev. Wright

I should have known better. I should have known that this was a media created event. I took the bait. I know better. I sincerely and solemnly apologize to Rev. Wright and his church for calling his words crazy talk. I know the neighborhoods Rev. Wright preaches in. I know the black men, the black women, black people he is trying to reach. I have seen the lives of many black people fall apart because they didn't have to support they need to survive in this world.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Rev. Wright for mentioning Carter G. Woodson's the Mis-education of the Negro.

"Visible" and Invisible Men

I don't know Colson Whithead but he has captured something I find difficult to explain; perhaps I find it difficult to explain because I have had to explain it so many times. For example, I was on airplane returning from a visit to Ohio. The woman next to me started a conversation with me. She was very friendly, so I decided to engage in this conversation. We began talking about any number of things. She asked me: Why do you talk so well? I had to explain to her that I attended school. I guess attending school isn't expected of me? I guess if attended school and speak "well" some will find this elitist. This Op-ed in the New York Times is how my family reared me and it is who I am:

I TRY to keep a low profile. Maybe you see me in the hallway but don’t know my name. Say hi to me in the coffee room but don’t really know me. I break my silence now because of this election mess. Before the primary in Pennsylvania this week, Bill Clinton was doing magic tricks — now you see the race card, now you don’t. Geraldine Ferraro and Bob Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television, have been complaining that Barack Obama is leading in the Democratic presidential campaign only because of his skin color. Multimillionaire TV pundits are lecturing “the common man” on how outraged they should be about Mr. Obama’s elitism.

Help!

I am trying to update my profile but keep getting this message: Error: Profile Field Values limited to 255 characters.. I am also trying to upload and avatar and get the same error message.

Psssst!

Is this what our government calls Total Information Awareness? It would be funny if it wasn't so close to being true.

from PA Department of State

With 99.07% of the vote reporting, the office of Elections Information in Pennsylvania reports an eight and one-half spread between Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama in its tally.

Obama picks up another super-delegate

According to MSNBC, Sen. Obama picked up another super-delegate. Firstread reports that the Obama campaign announced that it got the support of superdelegate/Ohio DNC member Enid Goubeaux.

The "Silly Season" and the finger

One the best ways to know the media is out of whack is to watch them. I watched Contessa Brewer air and re-air Sen. Obama speaking in Raleigh, North Carolina in which he scratches his face. Mrs or Ms. Brewer insisted while he had his hand near his face, he was giving Sen. Clinton the finger. Contessa Brewer was so successful in mis-reporting this story that Fox News picked it up and ran with it.

The Media, Robert Reich's blog and bitterness

By now must of us have read or heard that former Clinton Secretary of Labor Robert Reich endorsed Sen. Obama. I went to Mr. Reich's blog to try understand why he made the endorsement. After reading the first two paragraphs, he started to get into the area that I find personally more important than his endorsement. I am always looking for someone on the other side of (or inside ) the media bubble to explain to us, the audience what actually goes on in the studio and behind the camera. I think the audience forgets this a business and rarely questions the financial connections which are all but invisible. Mr. Reich offers a brief look inside the media. I think what Mr. Reich is trying to highlight is the idea of False Consciousness and Ideology.
