What Do You Think?

Hi there, come on in.  What?  Thanks for asking, he's doing much better.  Yes, I can finally breathe again.  Come in, come in.  Grab yourself a seat and I'll get your usual.  Nice to know someone well enough to know their usual, don't you think?  Especially when that someone is you.  I'll be right back.

I've had some seriously negative things going on lately, mostly due to people I love having even more seriously negative things going on in their lives.  It flows together when love binds.  I've come to the distinct conclusion that negative is not a good thing.  Major downer, serious bummer.  Stop making fun of me, I'm trying to make a point here.  Hush.

The ebb and flow of our lives depends on each of us being tuned in to each other.  One diverse tapestry that spins into an artistic community called humanity.  So why is it that our leaders seem to think it best to divide us?  Not all of them, I hasten to add.  But if there are even a few is that not too many?  Is not even one with the power to voice disunity and spread the lies of fear enough to do harm?

John McCain and Sarah Palin scare me enough to bring politics into my thread, which I am loathe to do.  There are some things too important to ignore.  What do you think?

We need to make the honest effort to get along, to coexist if you will, and yet when that effort is met with not only rejection and ridicule, but with the sort of hostility that can (and sadly, too often does) erupt into physical confrontation and violence, we cannot simply sit passively by. Not any longer.

I'm fairly combative in other parts of this board, as I'm sure you'd noted. I like it here, as that's not what your place is about. It's my refuge. And I need that refuge as often as not. We all do at some point. That I go back out and do battle again, well, that's just me. Leopards and spots and all that.

I truly believe that those who seek to sow fear do so because their personal makeup turns it into food and drink for their twisted selves. I often wonder at what might happen if some genuine fear made its way into their hearts. Not the insecurity and paranoia they already feel, not so much that as actual, immediate fear for themselves and their safety. I think they need to feel it.

Maybe I'm not the person you really want answering this one, M. Hope this isn't too extreme...

No, not too extreme at all. I see your point, and sadly agree for the most part.

You're right, we need to agree when we can and when we don't, at least try to co-exist. When that doesn't happen - as we are now seeing in this campaign season - we need to fight back.

It wouldn't be as bad if the folks fighting were doing so because they thought they were right. It's bad because they don't care. McCain doesn't. Scare us, who cares. Lie to us, who cares. Win no matter what, no matter how.

I'm so thankful for Barak Obama.

For some, holding onto what is known (even if it's wrong) is enough. For these folks, going negative is seen as a positive, because in the past, it worked. No matter that going negative is now seen as (surprise!) negative....if in the past, it brought a positive, well then, so be it.

For others, going negative does nothing but bring everyone else down, and who wants to do that nowadays? Going positive, by staying on the issues, and clearly seeing what needs to be done, and clearly stating what needs to be done, and encouraging others to do what needs to be done, is so much more effective. Especially today.

I'm glad to see you're feeling more upbeat and positive tonight, Michy.

Can I have the ugly blue chair?

The ugly blue chair is yours whenever you want it.

I will trust that you are right, Lis, that the American people will see past the negative stuff. I happen to think they will. I happen to think the the McCain crowd is underestimating us. Yet again.

Cheers!

You well know where I stand on this one, my sweets...McCain is an evil man. I haven't decided yet if Sarah is evil, as well, or just an ignorant person so caught up in the idea of being vice president that she can't see she is being used.

Either way, yes, they scare the crap out of me, too. But what scares me more is that so many of our fellow Americans are either buying their act, or are so morally bankrupt that they are willing to ignore the truth and vote for such a vile ticket to avoid having a Democrat (or perhaps a black man) as president. Either way it stinks.

Glad things are looking up...send him my best?

I'm hoping Michael will be here soon so you can give him your best personally. If not, I promise I will, still. Thanks.

I've decided to have confidence in our fellow Americans to make the decision that is best for our country. We just aren't collectively stupid enough to do otherwise.

Don't be so quick to presume our fellow countrymen are immune to the collective stupidity to which you refer, my love. Have been doing some idle reading this eve and came across this shocker:

"According to statistician John Williams [ http://www.shadowstats.com/section/commentaries ] who measures inflation, unemployment, and GDP according to the methodology used prior to the Clinton regime’s corruption of these measures, the US unemployment rate is currently at 14.7% and the inflation rate is 13.2%. Consequently, real US GDP growth in the 21st century has been negative. [The Clinton regime (and the Boskin Commission) rigged the CPI in order to cheat retirees out of their Social Security cost of living adjustments and ceased to count discouraged workers who cannot find a job as unemployed. To be counted as unemployed, a person has to be actively seeking a job.]"

Entire column at: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article20955.htm

Michael! EEEEE! So good to see you! You gave us a scare! I'm so glad you are back!

Hola, still... Not merely back, but front, too.

Dunno how much Melissa opted to share with y'all of my recent happenings, but, suffice to say, my car was t-boned by a hit & run driver last week, necessitating a hospital stay til they were able to determine that the ugly old bastard was good to fight another day. Still hurt like hell, and am kinda' foggy -- but not so that I am unable to be f'n furious at the neanderthal tactics McInsane & the Wolf-Killer have chosen to employ against our side.

This is one naval vet that has truly grown to despise that old man. My regard for the Governor is quickly following suit, I'm ashamed to add. If you'll excuse my phrasing, that woman is no lady.

I'm smiling. See why I love this guy?

Welcome back, and here's hoping for a swift recovery.

None of the gory details, just that you were hurt and she was scared. We took care of her for you as best we could.

And beautifully done, at that. I'll never be able to say 'thank you' enough to express how I feel.

It's beautiful! Now I just have to get used to it ...

You always lose me when you start going on about things that way. That kind of information is only idle reading to you, my dearest. But feel free to read it to me any time you'd like.

Still, sweetie....the only people buying the McCain/Palin arguments against Obama today are 1) Republicans, who are quickly losing their majority to a mix of Independents and Dems and 2) the MSM, who really need to make it look scary for the next 20-odd days left before the election.

Don't be skeered. Really. Just keep fighting the good fight, but don't be skeered.

Hey, Lissy girl! I'm not skeered in the sense of being afraid that they will win...I truly believe that we are going to win...I'm skeered for our country that there are so many idiots living in it and the the idiots have nominated such a vile man to be their leader!

With things getting as grim and ugly out there as they are, I think it's important to remember that there is still greatness and wonder to be found if we look. I ran across this earlier today, it's a composite image taken from an observatory in Chile - and reportedly the sharpest image of the planet Jupiter ever taken from Earth:

Here's a smaller one, for those with slower connections:

(Wait for the larger one, even on dialup it's worth it at 275K and 1730 x 1730 pixels in size.)

Thanks, me. I'll take a look - with you in mind.

We all need a bit of that now and then.

Waaaaay, cool, OG..Thanks!

You're welcome. Enjoy.

'Night, all...

'Night, me. Thanks.

PS- Went for the larger one, amazing. Made me feel small.

'Night all, sleep peacefully. See you all soon.
