Two Mavericks Dispensing Pure Scutter From Both Sides Of Their Rump Roasts.

I am afraid that we have reached a point where the Republicans have made doublespeak completely accepted, even by the MSM.

McCain engages in it all the time, and he does not get challenged. Look at how, on a daily basis, he now attacks, and blames Senator Obama, and in the very next breath, says stuff such as: now is not the time to engage in the blame game.

The one that annoys me the most is the weak fact checking that the media engages in. They are always swathing at gnats, while giving the hornets free passage.

Take for example Sarah Palin's debate statement  about if global warming is being caused by mankind's activities. The gist of what she said was, she did not know, and that it could be attributed to natural cyclical climate changes.

She then went on to talk up how we have to reduce carbon emissions, and get to the point of using clean green energy, that will greatly reduce mankind's carbon footprint on the planet. She did not put it in those exact words. but that is what she was calling for.

Here is where the Media BS detector should have gone off, but did not.

If Sarah Palin does not know, or fully agree, that global warming is caused by mankind's activities, then why is she laying out a plan to greatly curtail those activities.

Do you see what I mean. If you go to the Doctor, and he tells you that you do not have an infection, and he then writes you a bunch of prescriptions to suppress the infection, that he said you do not have, wouldn't you call him out.

Of course you would. Did you hear Gwen Ifill ,or any of the horde of post debate analysts, do so?
Sarah Palin does not fully believe that burning coal causes global warming, but she wants to stop burning coal so that we can reduce global warming. That is her position, and yet none of the chattering class have said; Huh?

liam, most respectively -- please don't bold or bold/italicize your entire post. Maybe do the first line, or even first line of every paragraph if you need it to stand out that much (though shouldn't it do so on content alone?). Doing the whole body of text really makes readability suffer.

Sorry,

I am vision impaired, and it has helped me to see what I am posting. I have a much larger monitor ordered, and it should solve the problem. I have tried the software magnification tool, and have found it very annoying. My new monitor should arrive by Tuesday, and I expect that will resolve the issue.

Take for example Sarah Palin's debate statement about if global warming is being caused by mankind's activities. The gist of what she said was, she did not know, and that it could be attributed to natural cyclical climate changes.

Actually, what Sarah has said repeatedly, is that she's not sure if she can attribute man's actions to climate changes.

In other words, she's unsure of whether man's actions are being caused by the climate changes.

She's a bright one, ain't she?

and yet, even though she says that she does not know if mankind has caused it, she then lays out a series of dirty energy usage habits that we must give up, in order to stop global warming. That is why I ask: why have none of the major pundits said: Huh?

Don't forget to click. If it is worth commenting on, then surely it must be worth bringing to the attention of more readers. Thanks.

Palin's stuff is much less important than McCain saying, often within one sentence, what a horrible person Barack Obama is, and then that he is above all negative comments. He is one of the biggest hypocrits I have had the displeasure to observe. He blames his negative campaign ads on Obama for not agreeing to town-hall meetings (!) He is on a par with Mr Uniter/Not Divider; Mr. "I'm not into Nation-building himself. The only time either one of them spoke the truth is when they said they'd like to be dictators.

I've been meaning to make a post with the same observation, but a bit broader in scope. They can't say they think Global Warming is man-made or even real lest they "disturb the base", but they have to push alternative energy in order to appease everyone else. The left has been calling for alternative energy for YEARS while the right kept feeding taxpayer money into oil companies. I would like to congratulate Republicans, at least McCain, for now saying we need alternative energy, if they weren't being so disingenuous.

But it isn't even a matter of whether they are being disingenuous; rather it's a matter, like everything else McCain, of being too little too late. What has been gnawing at me for so long, the major - fundamental? - difference between Obama and McCain, is that one has seen ahead while the other gets blindsided and is forced to react (or obstinately remains in a state of denial). What is better, foresight or hindsight? What would a President McCain do while the next crisis, visible by some, is two years off? A President Obama?
