The Sucking Sound You Hear is the McCain Campaign
The blogosphere is all atwitter with the post debate analysis. Expectations were so low that Palin not throwing up on herself was a small, but meaningless victory for all but the hardcore Republican base.
All I can say to that is thank God Barack Obama thinks enough of the American people to choose a man like Joe Biden as his VP, He is down to earth, smart and prepared to help lead this country.
This morning the Research 2000 poll stayed at +11 with last nites polls showing Obama +12. The Rassmussen poll stayed at 51-44 and the Battleground/GWU which was McCain +2 one week ago is now Obama +7 - again a 9 point swing in a week.
There are 3 items though that may have gotten lost yesterday and this morning that are very important:
- McCain retreating from Michigan makes his chance of victory now so small it is hard to measure.
- NH - 2 new polls have Obama +12 and +10, a huge swing in a week like we have seen all over the nation (+8/9). This was the only Kerry state in question and its 4 EV look pretty safe now.
- Troopergate - the judge denied the Republican attempt to quash the committee report due out next Friday which will be extremely damaging to Sarah Palin and McCain.
Obama sits at 264 solid EV now adding IA and NM to the Kerry states.
McCain now has to win ALL these states - OH, FL, NC, VA, CO, NV, IN, MO - the odds of which have to be near zero. In fact I think Obama will win ALL these states.
For Obama a win in any single one of these states and he becomes our 44th President. Even at 269 (adding NV only) the tie would be decided by the Democratic Congress.
With the ongoing financial crisis, 2 more debates and the Troopergate report coming in the next 12 days it will be nearly impossible for McCain to slow down the gathering Obama momentum, rather a rout may be beginning and GA,SC,AR,WV,MT could all be in play with outside shots at KY,MS and AZ and a real long shot TX.
The fat lady has started putting on her makeup...32 days to go.

Oh god you're right. Then no Canada for me. I'm very happy with the current healthcare I get thru UnitedHealthcare. I'm very happy being able to choose what doctors I use and what types of care I get. If the government took over healthcare, it would be a disaster. Look at what a great job they've done with Social Security!

Obama has no plans to change your healthcare plans or choices. Building on the current system is the bedrock of his plan.
Destroying the employer based healthcare system by eliminating tax deductions like McCain will do WILL be a disaster. The tax consequences of this for any of us would be quite expensive
