Pay Up or Shut Up

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/contribute.php

We're the little man.  We pay a little, we get a little.

They're the big guys.  They pay a little, they get a lot.

See the difference?  Now shut up, put up, pay up, or get out.

Give Josh and his people their props.  I'm tired of all this whining when we've got all these important differences to iron out.  And I'm tired of all this belly-aching over who we should bail out or who we shouldn't.

Bottom line:  It's our job's on the line.  That's closest to the bottom that I care to get.

A few days and a few years ago, a man named Atta, along with his henchmen, hijacked a few of our commercial jets and deliberately flew them into predetermined targets, killing hundreds of our fellow countrymen.

In retaliation, our President took us into war upon a region that had nothing whatsoever to do with the attack.

But we caught a bad guy by the name of Saddam Hussein, and we were told to be proud.

Yeah, okay, so we took out one bad guy in a world of many bad guys. But we didn't take out the bad guy that allegedly plotted the downfall of all those commercial flights, and all those helpless victims in the Twin Towers, surrounding areas, and the PA flight, and the flight that hit the Pentagon.

But, we took out Saddam Hussein. Yay! Woo Woo! Good for us.

Meantime, we took out all of our standing in the world, all of the respect that other countries had for us, and we took out all of the tolerance that we, and other countries, have.

Yay...wooh....whoah....

Then, we lost our rights as citizens of our own country, and we tossed away the rights of immigrants and students of darker skin and foreigh accents, by declaring an undeclared war against anybody different, and anybody using the internet and/or a cell phone.

Then, we lost our voting rights in this election through Alberto Gonzalez and HIS OWN band of merry henchmen, and we still didn't utter a peep.

Now, the US wants money to save the US from having to be owned by other countries.

And you all want the right to bash one another over the heads here at TPM Cafe, a humble little reader website daily blog, because day by day we've lost our rights and don't know who to cry to?

I'm sorry, but do we not look very stupid, and petty, for whining about our rights these days?

Get up, shut up, speak out, get the vote out, pay your share for the noise you make, and then you can talk down to everyone else around here.

Regarding your other post, lots of dumb people around, including many dems to make this happen.

Oddly, you got it backwards, Lis. Your post should have been a comment and your comment the post.

Just proves that the world is upside down, sometimes. But the point can still be made - still be important - if we pay less attention to the order of it than to the message.

Good point, Melissa. And yes, looking back with 20/20 hindsight at all my posts and comments this evening, I think I should've probably started it all from this point and moved forward.

I feel sort of like Gene Wilder in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" now. Which is fine by me, I love the guy.

Sometimes it takes a backward movement to start things moving forward in the right direction. Or so I'd like to think.

Thank you for staying up with me all night. Insomnia SO sucks.

Love Wilder - ADORE the movie! Much as Depp catches my breath, it just wasn't the same. No where close.

The original anything usually outshines a copy.

Obama is the first original politician I can remember in an amazingly long time. Smile about that.

I do! I do! I have him all over my cubicle at work, and I realize how rare a gift that is, that I can have Obama news headlines and pictures up in my workspace in this day and age. And every time people come to my desk they see his pictures, and they start talking with me about politics.

That's a lot of reasons to smile.

Thanks for reminding me that Obama is our own version of the Golden Ticket.

Keep sending your smiles out, LisB. You never know which grouchy soul you'll cheer up, even if the grouch won't admit it.

Nice to see you posting Lis [brahms w/puppies gal here]. Love and agree with the passion on rights, voting, & need to rescue our country from becoming an utter supplicant to China, without jobs, without access to borrowed dollars, without respect, without rights....

I have my heart in my mouth for this eve's debate, as I have seen some of the unbridled attacks by SP in prior debates and worry as many do that even a 'wash' could stop upward momentum for Obama/Biden that has given me renewed hope.

Keep up the diaries and hoping to see more of your razor wit soon!!!!!!
