Paul Begala Apologizes for McCain's Leadership of Racist Group

avatar

Today on Meet the Press Democratic "strategist" Paul Begala reminded viewers that John McCain had been on the board of the U.S. Council for World Freedom, a racist, anti-semitic political advocacy group according to Begala. Begala immediately explained away McCain's leadership of this group as nothing voters need be concerned about.

Gee, thanks Paul. With friends like you doing the Republicans work... You know the rest.

Why are spines such a rarity in among the Democratic leadership? Offending your opponents is not a crime; it is kind of the point.

How did he apologize? What he did was bring it up, and I saw the vid and saw no apology. Dems are always attacking each other, for shame.

I completely agree. We need more of what Begala did on Meet the Press. The electorate does not like negative campaigning. What Begala did was to get the negative information out about McCain's associations, while sounding supportive of McCain as a decent man. It's called tactical!

The electorate does not like negative campaigning.

If that's true then why do campaigns continue to use negative campaigning? Because it works.

We need more Begala's out there everyday until the election . And James Carvilles too !
These two gentlemen are the best of the best in the close quarter media combat that will make up these last few weeks . Look at MTP tape again tjobe - Begala did indeed associate the right wingers with McCain - even will damning the GOP nominee with faintr praise ...

I'm afraid you missed the point of what Begala was saying - he was trying to get a completely new piece of information out there about McCain's past associations. As long as McCain wants to play guilt-by-association in trying to link Obama and Ayers, the point Begala was making was that two can play at that game.
