Palin lies about Sudan divestment

avatar

So when Palin said last night that she led the effort to divest Alaska's state funds from Sudan, what she actually meant to say is that she led the effort to oppose divesting state funds from Sudan. Maybe that's why Palin kept winking during the debate -- she was trying to convey that what she was saying was the opposite of the truth. And I thought it was because she has the mental age of a 10-year old...

Read your own link. "The bill's Republican co-sponsor remembers things differently. "I know she was very strongly behind this," said Rep. Lynn"

So, despite the claim that she did not support the bill, on page 2 of the story it is reported that she in fact did support it. Typical, pathetic attempt at smearing her.

So you're saying that she was before it before she was against it? Or against before her administration killed the bill, after which she was for it? Explain.

I watched the debate and heard what Sarah Palin said on the divestment. She made a big deal about how she had worked to make sure that no Alaska funds were invested in any thing connected to Sudan. She stressed how important her work had been on that issue. Then at the very end, she said that nothing had been done, and no bill had been passed in Alaska to actually do what she tried to take credit for.

She might as well have said that she wanted to go to the moon, and has always wanted to land on the moon, so therefore she should be called an astronaut, even though she has never being in a space capsule, and no one has ever asked her to be.

As it stands:

The Alaska Permanent Fund currently holds $22 million in Sudan-linked investments, according to the non-profit Sudan Divestment Task Force. Divestment advocates say the fund does not need an act of the state legislature to divest itself of those holdings.

So the Palin administration is still profitting from genocide in Sudan? Looks that way.
