One Bar Standard
It seems the media is doing it again... They are setting two different standards. The bar is being set high for Sen. Biden and low for Gov. Palin. This way, as long as Palin doesn't trip and fall and shave a pen in her eye the 'Pundits' can say, "Wow! She did a great job!" And if Biden makes one single error of any kind, they can say, "I think Biden lost this debate!" At the very least they will say, "This was a tie!"
But this isn't the case!
There should be ONE BAR to which both candidates aspire. There should be one standard by which we measure the candidates... not two!
So, in an effort to make this debate more fair, let me suggest that Palin is likely to do very well Thursday night! She's likely to have a very strong showing. We should expect no less from a Vice Presidential candidate.
Consider, also, the following from HuffPo:
Because
the format allows for very little give-and-take between Palin and Joe
Biden, her "values"-oriented debating style stands a good chance of
succeeding. The central feature of her debate style is that rather than
getting bogged down in facts and specifics, she instead says what she
is for and what she is against using terms like "healthier,"
"stronger," "more prosperous," and "fairer."

(Thanks Kbob for the heads up)
With this kind of debate style, she's likely to score some points. She's likely to come across very well. We should not 'mis'underestimate her! If for no other reason than the issue of fairness and the "One Bar Standard"
