Macro Gaffe: "Spending Freeze"
I hate to be a johnny one-note, since I blogged on this after the first Obama-McCain debate, but tonight McCain again proposed a federal spending freeze.
That on the same night that he praised the $700 billion bailout bill, and proposed a massive but undefined new federal program to take up bad debt.
This is crazy stuff in a terrible economy. It shows he is completely clueless on economic "fundamentals." His cluelessness needs to be driven home.

I think he kissed Florida goodbye tonight when he started talking about messing with Social Security and Medicare.

His economics were blatantly incoherent, contradictory, and self-negating tonight: he will always cut spending, always cut taxes, but will spend money he doesn't have -- all while accusing Obama of spending money we don't have, and raising taxes in order to have the money we don't have.
Problems with Social Security? NONE -- excepting the allegations that there's sometihing wrong in continuing effort to undermine and destry it.
Problems with Medicare? Nothing that can't be "cured" by a massive cut to it in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthy, and the $700 billion bailout -- oops, "rescue".
