It's 10pm, Do you know where Matt Drudge is?
As of 10pm pst, Drudge still has no mention of the Troopergate report and Palin's violation of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act up on his site. Seems breaking news is not as important as hyping erroneous youtube videos that blame the financial crisis on the Community Reinvestment Act.
The basic argument [is] that the Community Reinvestment Act forced banks to loan to all people and, therefore, precipitated the sub-prime crisis and irresponsible people getting loans they couldn’t afford.
The Drudge Report happily hyped this video and injected it into the conservative blogosphere. From there, the CRA meme caught like wildfire. Soon, we were seeing it in top conservative blogs and even on the op-ed pages of major newspapers. This argument is not only morally repugnant, but simply factually off-base.
It is now an article of faith among many conservatives that the housing crisis is rooted in the CRA - and, in turn, the millions of people of color who were able to obtain mortgages through it.

It is now 11:58am eastern time and Drugde hasn't yet mentioned the Troopergate report. What a surprise!

Actually sometime this morning they saw fit to bury this below the fold:
Report stings Palin over 'Troopergate' flap...
Directly below a piece about "Obama fundraiser" Rezko.
Same shit, different day.

drudge always does that, whenever there is a legitimate negative story about McCain or Palin, he puts an unimportant old story about Obama next to it. Drudge either over-reacts with stupid headlines, or under-reacts. We all know that trooper-gate would have been a blaring headline if it was about obama or biden.

Hi Guys,
I have been donating to all those senate candidates who are in line to topple republicans like Liz Dole, Saxby Chambliss, Norm Coleman, et al. It doesn't take much, just a $10 here and there can give them some unexpected but much needed support. PLEASE help if you can. We need to change the country. The inverted reality that we are in now scares me.
PLEASE forward this message and/or do whatever you can to spread the word.

Do you think Rice has any chance against Inhofe?
October 11, 2008 3:00 PM | Reply | Permalink
I love Senator Rice to death. After graduating he spent a couple years on the other side of the world working with the poor. He is exactly the type of politician that a conservative state like Oklahoma needs to get past Inhofe- an intelligent, progressive Democrat with a strong Christian background (still a necessity for a politician in super-evangelical Oklahoma).
Unfortunately, I do not think he stands a chance against Inhofe in this year. Mostly because the majority of voters here (unlike Iowa, where my family is from) are largely ignorant of political news. Most of them are not even aware that our state is the only one where BOTH senators voted for torture! They see the words "Christian" and "Republican" and pull the lever. There is practically zero knowledge of issues among the general conservative population here. The sad thing is that if most of them found out even the tiniest morsel of knowledge about what Rice and Inhofe actually stand for, they would probably like Rice a lot better.
You know your state is backward when Inhofe's smear page against Rice does the job by listing organizations that Rice supports. One at the top of the list? The Sierra Club!!
Inhofe 2008: Together, we will destroy the earth.

10PM on a Friday night? Maybe Matt's down at the airport looking for someone with a wide stance.

Matt Drudge: hypocrite, coward.

He finally has a mention of it, buried below the 'fold', of course.

I hate that I find myself checking drudge's list just get the other "persepctive" onthe news these days. November 5th; I vow to never check Drudge again. I hope by 2012, the site will be boarded up for whatever reason. Hopefully it goes bankrupt or Drudge goes to jail for some reason...

I used to check his site pretty regularly, and finally just forced myself to stop.
I found myself getting a lot less depressed in my daily scan of the news as a result.

I used to swing by regularly too. I've given up visiting Drudge and feel so much less like a drudge. Seriously. I'm happier for not going there. Kos and TPM's frontpage are so much more worthy of time spent. Specially when I have so little time during the week.

He's pretty slow on the uptake tonight, too, after Palin got loudly booed in Philly.

I no longer check Drudge, he's just too stupid. If I want rightwing spin or to peak into the frightening vision of the GOP, I consult Politico (rightwing spin) or The Page (a healthy dose of GOP memes). No freaky stories about extreme weather, or smears against celebs.
I advise everyone else to do the same. Once people stop paying attention, he will go away.

Troopergate? What's in it for him to give that legs? He's not even going to mention that she got booed at the Flyers game.
He's a very sad pathetic troll, but my schadenfreude will be high when he finally gets his comeuppance.

Well, I checked under the troll bridge and he was not there. He's probably out there at some hellmouth collecting zombies for the next McCain - Palin rally.

It's 11 PM. Do you know where Obama fans were when Drudge wouldn't get off Hillary's back and fully supported Barack Obama?

Yawn.

I'm guessing that Drudge is now in Cheney's man-sized safe, for failure to succeed in his assigned mission.

The thing about about Drudge is he makes a living off advertising. He's making a LOT of money of pushing his Rethug propoganda considering he gets a plethora of hits per day. He has to hide the Palin news (which I noticed last night...everyone else was posting it, all media was report it but no Drudge. He'd rather report about how some errant CBS reporter said Obama's plane smelled.) Why? Because he needs to keep bring in money. If he posts the truth he wont make all that advertisting dollars. I honestly don't think he cares about anything but stirring the pot and making money.

Somebody should let Chris Cillizza--the guy who writes "The Fix" over at the WaPo and genuflects at the alter of Drudge--know about this. I'm sure he would...well, still worship Drudge.

unfortunately folks, i really was only using this as an excuse to bring attention to the bigger issue about the steady right wing meme about the financial crisis being the fault of low income latino and african american home buyers and the community reinvestment act. drudge is a sucker for sure, but i'm less concerned about his obvious tilt than the fact that there has been very little push back about this baseless interpretation of events. i posted the same piece before and got zero hits, so i thought i would try again. seems, however, like i have failed again as drudge dominates the comments.
peace
