Vaulting the Orca
. . . when a mere shark just won't do.
Courtesy of NRO, here is Newt Gingrich on McCain's debate-quitting gambit (as Jonah Goldberg calls it):
This is the greatest single act of responsibility ever taken by a
presidential candidate and rivals President Eisenhower saying, ‘I will
go to Korea.

Good old Newt, who thought it would be no big deal if the gov't defaulted on its debt back during the gov't shutdown in the 90s.

Yeah. Goldberg is informed in political history. YAWN.
No mention of Washington saying we should avoid foreign entanglements -- he apparently wasn't a Republican.
And Goldberg couldn't find a relevant statement by a Republican. At very least it had to be a statement made by a Republican which can be mistaken as wise, and palmed off as relevant to the uninformed -- such as Goldbewrg.
How does "I will run away from debating" compare to "I will go to Korea"? The first was said by an Army ex-general; the latter was said by a bottom-of-the-class legacy swabby/POW/pseudo-"hero".
