"Uppity"
I just watched Rick Sanchez on CNN (the worst commentator on CNN, no wonder he is buried on Sun. nite) discussing this inane, racial code description of Obama by GA Rep. Westmoreland.
CNN interviewed a number of folks and no surprise the younger (<30) gave a dictionary description and over 40 or more saw it as the racial code that it is.
In the south in particular and to voters over 50 (the most likely to have racist bias), this word is a very negative racial slur and that is where it was intended to play.
Westmoreland "aplogized" if he offended anyone but did not retract his ignorant and racist comments.
God forbid though that Palin gives an interview and if anyone questions her they are sexist.
How in God;s name could anyone be sexist when she described hocckey moms as pit bulls with lipstick?

Obviously the bigotry is in full swing. See my post:

Anyone, such as Westmoreland, who is over the age of 50 and grew up in the South knows that the word "uppity" exists ONLY in connection with what is now known as the N-word. It was never used for anything else, and its meaning was precisely what his comment indicated .... blacks who feel they are 'above their station.' I can understand younger people or folks from other parts of the country not making that necessary connection - but to someone like Westmorland who I gather is around 50 and grew up in Georgia .. there is simply no innocent explanation.
