Senator Obama, YOU Must Change....NOW!
Senator Obama must realize his generic rhetoric is not going to make headlines or get significant air time in the MSM. To combat this he needs to create headlines. This will require changing from gentle, calculated and empty criticism to fire-breathing, honest but thorough unmasking of the lies and distortions being so effectively used by the McCain/Palin machine. And stop listening to whomever is telling you that America can't handle the bare truth. We already know what the truth is, we just want you to blast it to the majority of Americans that never hear it and need to know, before it is too late to matter.

Although it is hard to resist, I'm not a fan of armchair quarterbacking. Obama's team seemed to have the primary season down to a science, and though my blood pressure would have been better with knockout punches in Ohio and Texas, they knew it was going to come down to North Carolina.
That said, I heard Thomas Friedman on NPR (Fresh Air), and he had a clippled, eco-populist message that was smart, energetic, and direct. http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=13
Without saying he's for Obama, he was basically giving the Democrats a tough-sounding energy plan, a way of telling the story.
I'd love to see Obama adopt some of that rhetoric and, especially, some of that directness. EG, "John McCain says he's against terrorism but 8 times he's missed the vote to give tax credits for solar power companies. Everytime McCain missed that vote, he made America vulnerable to terorists."

The Americans who can handle the "bare truth" are already voting for Obama. This campaign is no longer about preaching to the choir. It is about expanding your message for a wider appeal. Obama is doing just fine and his "rhetoric" is hardly generic.
The remaining undecided voters will watch him to see if he lives up to his word over the next few months. Does he stick to being a gentleman? Does he really mean what he says about a new day and a new way in Washington? If he lives up to that, Barack wins a landslide victory.
If he gets down in the mud, following your advice and the advice of other folks left of the dial, he will get 50%+1, Pyrrhic victory. Not nearly as helpful given our various and sundry problems. Dropping bombs on McCain and Palin may feel good to the democratic base, but it won't win any friends on the right side of the middle, where half of the undecided voters are right now.
Barack needs to win this by convincing a hostile and divided country to lay down its arms and work together for the first time in 40 years or more.

Check out the electoral college map. Barack is going to win. But I sure would like to hear him fire up, and pound the message in: Bush and McSame have lied to you, and they are still lying toyou. They think you're stupid. I don't. Here's what we're going to help you help yourself.
I really don't need Barack to keep telling me over and over that the economy's bad, that people are losing their jobs and their houses. I know that already, and so do all the other people that are affected
