Searching for the White Whale in NJ
OK, so Democratic Senator Frank Lautenberg is not a whale but he does have white hair and it seems his political opponent, Washington DC lawyer-lobbyist-turned-GOP Senate candidate Dick Zimmer, is doing his best Ahab impression desperately seeking a confrontation. Zimmer, who has fallen so low in the polls you need a high-resolution microscope to gauge his support, has begun his quest by going to diners throughout the state asking patrons if they've seen the White Whale. “A number of newspaper editorials have asked, ‘Where is Senator Lautenberg hiding?’ I intend to help find our missing Senator by handing out missing-person flyers at diners throughout New Jersey,” said Zimmer. A spokesperson for Lautenberg said Zimmer should steer a course for Washington DC. “Frank Lautenberg’s busy in Washington working on the financial bailout package,” she said. “As much as he’d like to meet Dick Zimmer in diners, there are more pressing issues for Frank Lautenberg to be worried about right now.” I guess it's better to meet Dick Zimmer in diners than some of the rest stops on the New Jersey Turnpike.
