Sarah Palin was vetted (in 2006, by the Democratic party)
Back in 2006 a "vetting" document - actually oppo research - was compiled by the Democratic party when Sarah Palin was running for governor. The Alaskan political blog Mudflats has put it up here.
Definitely worth a look. I haven't had time to look closely (frankly my eyes glazed over) but there are some interesting tidbits in there for sure.
For instance, Palin's explanation for not running for U.S. Senate: her 14-year-old son asked her not to. "How could I be the team mom if I was a U.S. Senator?" (ADN 4/24/04)
Luckily for McCain, I guess, her teenage daughters don't seem to play hockey.
Or the amazingly long list of vehicles she and her husband owned between 2004 and 2006. Even discounting all the snow machines (I'm assuming that's what the ATVs are), there are a lot of vehicles listed. Did she run a used car dealership too, or a rental business? I don't remember seeing that listed as "executive experience" so maybe it was just a hobby she had between campaigns. The VINs are listed so maybe someone with more time on their hands could take a closer look.
I'm not vouching for the accuracy of anything on that document, but it has citations for each item so it shouldn't be too hard to follow up.
