Sara Palin, Busy Mother

I know the past week has been a whirlwind, and even before that there were moose to kill and wells to drill. But I'm pretty sure she has not noticed that she has a deaf baby. If he's not, there is no such thing.

I was just curious if anyone else noticed it. First, I thought it a little odd that the baby was always sleeping (a little Nyquil!?!?)

But there is not one hearing baby who could have slept through that noise at the convention. And when he was finally awake on the stage, he didn't react to the noise even then.

I've heard that it sometimes takes a long time to realize a baby is deaf.

I don't think the Down's Syndrome accounts for his lack of reaction. He seemed to be looking at things.

Actually, it was more visceral than that. I said to myself, "What kind of baby could sleep through all this?"

And answered myself, "Ooooo. A deaf one."
